Hooded Horse Joins Ubisoft and Unfrozen as Publisher on Heroes of Might and Magic: Olden Era
Hooded Horse is practically building an incredible library of strategy games. Today’s news is about their newly announced partnership with Ubisoft and Unfrozen, the developer behind the highly anticipated Heroes of Might and Magic: Olden Era.

Originally launched in 1995, the Heroes of Might and Magic series has long stood as one of the pillars of turn-based strategy gaming, blending kingdom management, hero progression, and tactical battles in a formula that has inspired countless titles in the genre.
Its enduring appeal lies in its rewarding gameplay loops, strategic depth, and the unique satisfaction of assembling your dream army before clashing against rival heroes across richly detailed maps.
Developed by Unfrozen, the team behind the cult hit Iratus: Lord of the Dead, Olden Era takes the beloved franchise to the mysterious continent of Jadame, a land long referenced but never fully explored in the series. Players can look forward to new factions, biomes, and creatures as they build armies, manage towns, and engage in tactical battles that have defined the Heroes of Might and Magic legacy for decades.
The anticipation is already high, with the game racking up over 600,000 wishlists on Steam, placing it among the platform’s top 50 most anticipated upcoming titles.
Recent faction deep dives for Necropolis, Dungeon, and Sylvan have showcased the game’s detailed approach, while a new community feedback video highlights the team’s commitment to player involvement during development.

“Heroes of Might and Magic is a legendary series, one that has a place in the hearts and childhoods of many gamers,” said Hooded Horse CEO Tim Bender. “We’re honored to be teaming up with Ubisoft and Unfrozen on this project.”
Ubisoft’s Alain Corre, Chief Publishing Officer, echoed the excitement, praising Hooded Horse’s “passion for the franchise and strong connection with strategy communities,” which complements Unfrozen’s creative drive.
Unfrozen CEO Denis Fedorov added that this partnership will help bring Olden Era to a wider audience, introducing tactical turn-based strategy fans around the world to the unexplored realms of Jadame.

Back to the game, Heroes of Might and Magic: Olden Era aims to deliver the deep, strategic gameplay the series is known for, while refreshing its systems to appeal to modern players.
The game will feature large, hand-crafted maps filled with hidden secrets, resources to gather, and neutral armies guarding key locations. Tactical combat remains the same you can expect from the series, with an emphasis on unit synergy, terrain advantages, and careful resource management.
Players can expect a wealth of hero customization options, including skill trees that allow tailoring your champions to your preferred playstyle, whether that means commanding devastating spellcasters, sturdy defensive tacticians, or agile scouts who excel in map control, while artifact collection, town upgrades, and resource management will remain central pillars.

Additionally, Olden Era will feature an updated visual style, combining detailed hand-painted environments with modern lighting and animations while preserving the clear readability crucial for tactical gameplay.
Unfrozen has hinted at dynamic weather effects and biome-specific challenges for a robust single-player campaign alongside skirmish modes, and plans for multiplayer.
Heroes of Might and Magic: Olden Era will launch in Early Access later this year on PC via Steam.
