The game I’m introducing is a two-year passion project for Dat (Resummon Studios), a lifelong fan of strategy and roguelikes who took a hobby prototype and turned it into something bigger.
Forsworn is one of those games that wears its pitch on its sleeve: a roguelite tactical RPG where the gods rule everything, death is routine, and your job is to break that loop. The game is planned for Q3 2026 with an upcoming demo, but I’ll tell you more.

The setting is a dark fantasy realm torn apart by divine war, with mortals stuck in the middle of a conflict they can’t win in a straight fight.
Every run starts the same way: your heroes are resurrected and thrown back into the struggle, with the idea that you slowly push back against fate by learning how to bend the rules of the world to your advantage.

Forsworn is all about turn-based tactics. Battles play out on an isometric field, and every action you take, attacking, casting, or defending, feeds into an Ultimate Charge system. Each hero carries their own Ultimate ability, the kind of once-per-fight power that can scatter enemy lines, spike damage at the right time, or swing momentum back in your favor.
Because charge builds off everything you do, even a “defensive” turn matters; you’re always nudging that meter toward a payoff, which should keep rounds busy.

On top of that sits the roguelite layer, which is where Forsworn really tries to distinguish itself. Runs are framed around “endless hero builds”: you pick up new abilities, equip items, and take blessings that actually change how skills work and how a character plays.
Upgrades can unlock new mechanics and interactions, so a hero that started out as a straightforward damage dealer might end up leaning into control, support, or some strange hybrid depending on what you find.

The game also talks about artifacts that power up the entire party, which suggests there’s a strong emphasis on team-wide synergies.
There’s also a strong co-op angle. You can play solo, but the game supports online co-op for up to three players, with simultaneous turns for everyone. All players lock in actions at the same time, which should keep battles moving while still giving you room to coordinate positioning and combos over voice chat.
The free Steam demo drops December 1, 2025, featuring the full first act, with 20+ encounters, five fully playable heroes, more than 70 items, and over 150 hero abilities to explore. Both Normal and Hard modes are available, along with optional hero leveling and achievements that unlock new artifacts for future runs. The full release of Forsworn is planned for July 2026 on PC via Steam. Below is the announcement trailer.
