The Necromancer's Tale On Consoles

Set in an alternative version of 1733, the story follows a minor noble living in a kingdom near Venice and the Adriatic Sea.

Their search for knowledge, power, and revenge gradually pulls them toward necromancy, forbidden rituals, and a growing connection with the realm of the dead. Becoming a powerful necromancer takes time, however. Players must decipher ancient spellbooks, perform dark rites, and hide their activities from a society that may respond with suspicion, prosecution, or violence.

Much of the experience revolves around investigation and social maneuvering. Conversations can involve diplomacy, coercion, flattery, seduction, or blackmail, while a Trust system tracks how the population reacts to the player’s behavior. Character creation also includes a voiced backstory that establishes details such as gender, upbringing, skills, and a military, diplomatic, or academic career. These decisions influence the dialogue options available later in the campaign.

When negotiations break down, The Necromancer’s Tale shifts into tactical turn-based combat. Players fight alongside conventional allies and undead minions, using weapons, spells, and necromantic rituals against human and supernatural opponents.

Battles can also be resolved automatically for those who prefer to concentrate on the narrative and role-playing systems.

The campaign contains more than 400,000 words of narrative and over 180 NPCs with individual personalities and hand drawn portraits. A complete playthrough is expected to take between 25 and 50 hours, depending on exploration, side content, and whether combat encounters are played manually. Multiple endings reflect the consequences of the choices made throughout the story.

The Nintendo Switch 2 edition includes mouse functionality, and a launch promotion is also available during the first two weeks, with discounts beginning at 20 percent depending on the platform and region.

The Necromancer’s Tale arrives on consoles with an established PC audience behind it. Its Steam release currently holds a Very Positive rating, with 91 percent of more than 800 user reviews marked as positive.
