The game developers have sweetened the deal further, announcing a special launch discount of 30% starting from the release date, July 20th, until July 27th. This promotion offers a prime opportunity for both dedicated followers and newcomers to the game to experience Oaken at a reduced price.

The full release promises an expansion of the Oaken universe, introducing a new world – the Roots – found in the game’s third chapter. The full version will also feature a new guide, numerous gameplay improvements, AI enhancements, and an expanded prologue chapter, promising a polished and well-rounded gaming experience.

Players can expect to explore countless new levels, confront formidable bosses, and refine their spells and spirits to suit their individual playstyle. The addition of achievements for the peaceful ending and the new world, alongside Japanese localization, adds an extra layer of depth and accessibility to the game.

Oaken Gameplay

Current players of Oaken will also receive an update – the Roots Update 1.0.1 – which can be checked on the game’s Open-Beta branch. The Roots Update includes improvements to visual elements, gameplay mechanics, and an improved “undo” command, along with the introduction of an outro for the bonus ending. Below is an overview of the game via Steam and trailer.

ABOUT THIS GAME

The world of Oaken is a mythical place, existing in a not easily defined space and time. It is stretched among the branches of the Great Oak. Its inhabitants are spirits which listen to the same voice, called the Oak Song.
The loss of that voice starts a series of events leading into a struggle which may either heal or destroy the Great Oak.

  • Roguelike, hero-oriented campaign with deck management.
  • A mystical world inhabited by spirits with celtic and tribal vibes.
  • A randomly generated world map with tons of levels, bosses and events to be discovered.
  • Unique, highly tactical battles on a hexagonal grid, where position and rotation is everything.
  • Upgrade your spells and spirits the way you want.
  • Easy to learn, hard to master – chill and challenge modes suitable for any player.
