This September, Game Pass subscribers, Microsoft’s well-known subscription service, will get access to two noteworthy turn-based titles that shouldn’t be overlooked.
The first is a turn-based RPG: the second entry in the For The King series. The game expands on the foundation of its predecessor with a richer blend of tabletop-inspired strategy, cooperative play, and roguelike structure.

Set in the troubled kingdom of Fahrul, the game challenges players to band together and face a new tyrannical ruler through procedurally generated maps filled with quests, dungeons, and turn-based battles.
The sequel doubles down on party management, offering a broader roster of character classes and new tactical options, while keeping the same mix of risk, exploration, and survival that defined the original.
Alongside these systems, For the King II introduces more structured storytelling, with campaigns that intertwine narrative-driven events and strategic freedom.
The cooperative element remains at its core, allowing up to four players to embark together either online or locally, sharing in the triumphs and setbacks of the journey.
At launch, IronOak Games’ title didn’t immediately match the success of its predecessor, weighed down by various bugs and gameplay shortcomings. However, the developer has been steadily recovering, and just a few days ago released a major update packed with a wealth of new content.
Definitely a title worth exploring, now even more so thanks to all the new updates and fixes. Its debut on Xbox Game Pass is set for September 17 (the very day I’m writing this).
The other game I want to highlight is one of the most anticipated 4X strategy releases. It’s also a sequel, but this time to another celebrated series: ENDLESS Legend.

Endless Legend 2 marks the return of Amplitude Studios’ acclaimed 4X fantasy series, bringing players back to the mystical world of Auriga.
This new installment builds on the legacy of the original with deeper faction asymmetry, more complex empire-building systems, and refined tactical combat. Players once again lead unique civilizations, each with distinct traits and playstyles, across a vast and dynamically generated world filled with resources, ancient secrets, and unpredictable weather.
The sequel also emphasizes narrative-driven progression, offering evolving quests and storylines tied to the world and its inhabitants.
Visual upgrades bring Auriga to life with richer landscapes and improved faction design, while new diplomacy and political layers enhance the push-and-pull between cooperation and conquest.
I’m eagerly looking forward to ENDLESS Legend 2, which will launch on Game Pass the same day it enters Early Access: September 22.
