New Monster Taming RPG

The upcoming monster-taming RPG has updated quests, farming and building systems, and over 30 playable beasts, including variants and evolutions.

Alchemic Beasts is back on Kickstarter, and there’s an updated demo to go with it. White Guardian Studios launched the new campaign on September 14, following further work on the game’s combat, quests, and creature roster since its first crowdfunding attempt. Farming and building are now playable in the demo, too.

The latest version includes over 30 playable beasts, counting their alchemic variants and evolutions. The team has also revised quests and added Mayor Drippins, giving the demo more story content alongside its creature collecting.

These additions tie into the broader task of restoring Mizu, where beasts help with construction and the people you rescue return to town to open shops and other services.

Several difficulty spikes have been softened, with regular encounters adjusted to give newcomers more time to learn the mechanics. The main gargoyle boss, Hagrif, remains an exception. A separate recent update also introduced stat increases that you can choose when a beast levels up, giving you more control over its development.

Beast Bonds and Evolution Choices

What catches my attention is how the game uses relationships in its turn-based battles. Neglecting a beast can affect its obedience, while creatures sitting on the bench can still help active teammates through passive bonuses tied to their personalities.

That gives you something to consider beyond which monsters have the strongest attacks: their behavior and supporting roles matter as well.

Evolution comes with another choice. Beasts can develop naturally through battles and leveling, or take an alchemic route to access different forms. Using alchemy prevents a beast from reaching its ultimate natural evolution.

I’m curious to see how those routes compare, because a faster transformation comes with a clear sacrifice. Combat also includes Alchemic Bursts, powerful abilities that consume all of a beast’s energy.

Alchemic Beasts is currently planned for a 2027 release on PC through Steam, with no exact date announced. Its demo is available now, letting players try the current build before deciding whether to support the campaign.
