The frozen frontier beckons: Frosthaven, the digital adaptation of Isaac Childres‘ blockbuster board game, enters Early Access tomorrow, July 31, on Steam and the Epic Games Store.
Arc Games unveiled the launch trailer (that you will find below)a day early and confirmed that the game will debut at a discounted price of $35.99, 10 percent off its standard $39.99 tag, until August 7.
To sweeten the deal, Arc has teamed with Twin Sails to offer a limited‑time bundle that pairs Frosthaven with its spiritual predecessor, Gloomhaven.
The package, available only during the launch promotion, costs $67.48—also 10 percent below the usual combined price of $74.98—giving newcomers an affordable gateway to both epic campaigns while letting existing Gloomhaven owners complete their collection on the cheap.
The Early Access build represents roughly one‑third of the planned 1.0 content. Developed by Sofia‑based Snapshot Games under the guidance of X‑COM creator Julian Gollop, and with Childres consulting, the initial release includes eight playable mercenaries, six starters and two unlockables, more than 35 tactical scenarios across the first two acts, and over 100 choice‑driven events.
A robust tutorial eases new players into the card‑driven combat, while full Forteller voice narration and NVIDIA GeForce NOW support round out the offering.
Both solo adventurers and parties of two to four online co‑op players can build and upgrade their outpost between quests, unlocking new buildings and mechanics as they go.
Snapshot plans to keep Frosthaven in Early Access for about a year, though that timeline could shift based on community feedback.
Content updates are expected roughly every three months, and an official roadmap will follow shortly after launch.
Gollop emphasized that player input is central to the studio’s approach, urging adventurers to join the game’s Discord to help refine mechanics, balance classes, and influence the final shape of the 130‑plus‑scenario campaign.
The excitement extends beyond PC screens to the Indiana Convention Center, where Frosthaven will be playable on the show floor at Gen Con 2025 from July 31 through August 3.
Attendees can sample an exclusive demo at Cephalofair Games’ booth (#1643) and Forteller Games’ booth (#3015), meet the development team, and snag early‑access merchandise before continuing their adventure at home.
