Wicked Seed has received a major new update called Daybreak, introducing a post-game story chapter, a new randomizer mode, combat adjustments, additional weapons and costumes, and several technical improvements.

For those unfamiliar with it, Wicked Seed is a survival horror RPG from Dead Right Games that mixes turn-based mechanics with real-time movement, dodging, blocking, and parrying. Players explore rural Maine as Ella, managing limited resources, solving environmental puzzles, and building action chains in combat while experimenting with different weapons and equipment setups.

The game was released on January 23, 2026, with very positive reviews so far, and the new update looks like the perfect excuse to jump in.

The headline addition is Daybreak, a new chapter set immediately after the ending of the main campaign. It uses a separate save file and includes three new weapons, more than 40 additional voiced lines, and new challenges. Weapons and costumes collected during the chapter can later be used in the main game.

The update also introduces Chaos Mode, which randomizes enemies and most equipment across a playthrough. Weapons and armor are automatically equipped when discovered, forcing players to constantly adapt their builds, while progression-critical items remain protected from randomization.

Combat has received several revisions as well. Weapons can now be swapped multiple times during an action chain, several heavily armored enemies have had their defense reduced, and status effects such as burning and acid are more effective. Players can also access bestiary information directly while targeting enemies in battle.

The Pit’s Endless Mode has been reworked with boss encounters every five depths, while defeating these bosses unlocks new starting checkpoints for future runs.

The update also adds Japanese, Simplified Chinese, Russian, and Brazilian Portuguese localization, alongside 12 costumes, additional customization options, lighting improvements, and other visual changes.

The Daybreak Update is available now for Wicked Seed on PC via Steam, giving returning players new post-game content while making broader changes to combat, replayability, and performance.
