Akatsuki Games confirmed that Kaiju No. 8 The Game will launch on August 31. The announcement arrived with a new trailer and key visual tied to a Kaiju No. 8 Day program, which also shared gameplay footage.

The new video does more than circle a date. It introduces original characters who expand the setting beyond the anime storyline. The group is called Clozer, and it is led by Sagan Shinomiya, who is presented as the older sister of Kikoru in the wider series canon.

Two of her key lieutenants are Chester Lochburn and a scientist named Suited. The trailer and press materials frame Clozer as a special unit created for the game, with an emphasis on weapons research and flexible combat roles.

The broadcast on August 5 featured Masaya Fukunishi, the voice of Kafka Hibino. He played a live demo that highlighted high-end visuals, snappy battle flow, and dramatic finishers. The segment also showed core exposure moments and ultimate attacks that line up with how the series stages its biggest clashes.

If you are tracking sign-ups, the team says pre-registrations have cleared eight hundred fifty thousand across storefronts. The campaign ties rewards to milestones. Players will receive Mina Ashiro and Soshiro Hoshina at launch at four-star rarity if the current tier holds, with a five-star pick promised if the count hits one million before release.

Kaiju No. 8 The Game adapts Naoya Matsumoto’s hit manga and the recent anime seasons while adding new stories that fit within the timeline.

The premise puts you in the path of giant threats as part of the Japan Anti Kaiju Defense Force. Trailers and store copy point to turn-based battles that mix simple inputs with timing-heavy finishers.

The cast list brings back familiar voices from the show, including Fukunishi as Kafka, with a roster that features Mina, Reno, Kikoru, Soshiro, and Isao among others.

Akatsuki Games is developing and operating the project with support from Toho and Production IG. The PC and mobile focus suggests a broad launch that meets fans where they already play, while the free-to-play model and cross-region language options hint at a push for a global audience on day one.

The release covers mobile and PC. Players can grab the game on the App Store and Google Play, or on PC through Steam when it launches on August 31, 2025.
