Monster taming and roguelite design meet in Aethermancer, the next project from Monster Sanctuary developer moi rai games. Published by offbrand games, the title will launch in Early Access.

Aethermancer RPG

In Aethermancer, players step into the role of an Aethermancer, a figure able to command mythical creatures caught in an endless cycle of death and rebirth.

The game centers on 3v3 turn-based combat where each monster can learn from hundreds of abilities, offering a wide range of synergies and tactical approaches. When a creature falls in battle, it is lost permanently, but players can restore its soul through a rebirth system that carries traces of past lives into new forms.

The Early Access version will ship with 28 monsters across 19 types, over 440 abilities, and three biomes to explore.

Players can expect a variety of modes, including Casual, Normal, and Mythic difficulties, as well as a first major deity boss encounter. Progression is supported by multiple metagame systems, town development features, and a skill system built to encourage experimentation across repeated runs.

Dialogue with NPCs evolves through a dynamic conversation system, adding narrative layers to the exploration of the Fractured Ruins. Beyond battles, players can gather townsfolk, unlock player classes, and use Aethermancer abilities to uncover new paths and secrets in procedurally generated areas.

The developers expect the Early Access phase to last about a year, with regular updates planned roughly every three months. Content expansions will include more monsters, biomes, player classes, and deity boss fights, alongside quality-of-life improvements and endgame systems. A price increase is planned later in Early Access and again at full release.

Aethermancer will support eight languages at launch, including English, German, French, Brazilian Portuguese, Simplified Chinese, Japanese, Spanish, and Korean. Full controller support is confirmed, though Steam Deck compatibility has not yet been rated.

The Early Access release follows several successful demos and playtests, and the team emphasizes community involvement in shaping the final version. Moi rai games notes that the goal is to create a system of endless builds to experiment with and multiple rewarding endings when version 1.0 arrives.

Aethermancer launches September 23 on PC via Steam Early Access. A free demo is available now. Below is the trailer for the release date.
