The Arcade Crew and developer Sleepy Mill Studio announced that Drop Duchy (their strategy roguelite game that has sold over 100,000 copies since launch) is going to get its first paid DLC, The Tribe.
It arrives alongside a major free update that adds new mechanics, enemies, and a fresh challenge mode.

Drop Duchy combines city-building, deck management, and spatial puzzles. Players drop blocks on a grid to grow their empire, using terrain effects and unit combos to push forward each turn. The DLC introduces a fifth playable faction, while the free patch expands the core systems for everyone.
The Tribe DLC will be priced at €3.99 on its own, or available in a bundle with the base game for €17.10.
This new faction draws inspiration from ancient druids and stone monuments, with buildings based on sites like Stonehenge and other megalithic structures.
Their playstyle favors precise placement and forest synergy, with a focus on exploring the map and chaining resource boosts through area-specific effects. New cards include the Stone Circle, which rewards placement in sacred terrain, and the War Council, which grows stronger as players uncover new territory.
In parallel with the paid expansion, a free content update brings changes that affect every mode. A new Constellations system gives players active abilities that can bend the rules mid-run.

These powers, selected before each session, let players reshape terrain, remove obstacles, or disable threats with precision. They are rechargeable and shift Drop Duchy toward more reactive tactics by reducing the role of pure randomness.
The update also introduces Act 4 and an endless mode. Once players beat the third boss, they unlock a looping gauntlet of rising difficulty.
Enemies grow tougher over time, pushing players to refine their decks and explore advanced synergies. This endgame content adds longevity for veterans looking to test their full kits in escalating scenarios.
Elite enemies debut in this update as well. These stronger versions of standard foes come with new mechanics and AI behaviors. Combined with the endless mode, these foes mark a significant jump in challenge.

Twelve new cards also enter the game, available across all factions. They unlock through progression and are tied to a set of sixteen new challenges. These mini-goals help guide early play and reward experimentation with the newer features. The developers say these challenges are designed to both speed up early progress and offer a clear way to learn advanced systems.
The update includes several comfort settings, such as drop speed control, a clearer deck filter, and easier access to challenges from anywhere in the run. A one-click option to clear paths also joins the interface, aimed at reducing friction for players deep into long runs.
Drop Duchy has been praised for its blend of puzzle mechanics, strategy elements, and roguelike structure. It holds an 83 on Metacritic and sits at “Very Positive” on Steam with an 89 percent approval rating.
The game’s clean visual style and tactile block placement make it easy to grasp, while deeper mechanics and faction diversity keep it fresh across multiple playthroughs.
Drop duchy is available on PC via Steam and the Tribe DLC, and a free update goes live August 18, below the DLC trailer.
