Ice Code Games’ tactical extraction looter is preparing to reach its full version, bringing its Early Access run to an end on PC.
It was already sitting in my “favorite games” folder, but I was just waiting for the 1.0 release, and it looks like the wait is almost over. Ice Code Games, the developer behind the excellent Hard West 2, has officially announced the release date for its new RPG, Nightmare Frontier, which is getting ready to launch in its full 1.0 version.

The developer has confirmed that the 1.0 version of the tactical extraction looter will release on July 22, 2026, on PC. With the full release, the game will also leave Early Access, which originally began on June 16, 2025.
Developed by Ice Code Games and published by Ice Code Games together with Slitherine Ltd., Nightmare Frontier is set in an alternative version of early 1900s America, where a once-promising boom town has been twisted into a supernatural hunting ground.

Players lead a band of scavengers into hostile districts, fight creatures known as Dreadweavers, gather loot, and try to get out alive before the expedition turns against them.
The game’s hook is its mix of turn-based tactics and extraction-style risk management. Each raid pushes players to decide how far they are willing to go: retreat with the resources already collected, or continue deeper into the nightmare in search of better rewards.
Combat leans toward tactical maneuvers, weapon upgrades, fear-based enemies, and environmental tricks, with recent updates expanding the tactical options even further.

The full release date follows the recent Twisted Prosperity update, described as a major step toward 1.0.
That update introduced the new Fear of Forests enemy type, Deadwood, along with a ricochet mechanic that allows certain handguns to bounce shots off metal objects. It also added new objectives, a loot-focused Slaughterhouse unlock tree, new sidequests, 13 new items, 47 Steam achievements, and additional localization support.
The company has also stated that console versions are in development, though the newly confirmed July 22 date currently refers specifically to the PC version on Steam. Below the launch date trailer.
