Here we are in the final week of November, wrapping up a month packed with exciting releases. Think of the spin-off of Lost Eidolons, Metal Slug Tactics, the new installment in the Mario & Luigi series, and the remake of the third chapter of Dragon Quest. These titles, alongside many other indie gems, have made November a memorable month. However, a few highly anticipated games are still on the horizon, ready to make their debut this very week—specifically, four standout titles.
Neon Blood
On Tuesday, one of the titles I’m most excited for, Neon Blood, finally arrives. This story-driven RPG immerses you in a futuristic world, placing in the role of a detective tasked with uncovering a conspiracy using their sharp instincts and the help of trusted allies.
Neon Blood is set in the divided city of Viridis in 2053, where the affluent Bright City contrasts sharply with the impoverished Blind City. Playing as Axel McCoin, a former detective turned revolutionary, you’ll explore a dystopian world, uncovering secrets and challenging systemic corruption.
The game combines narrative-driven exploration with turn-based combat and features a unique 2.5D art style that blends pixel art with 3D environments. With a focus on choice-driven storytelling and a rich cyberpunk atmosphere, Neon Blood launches on November 26, 2024, for multiple platforms, including PC, consoles, and special physical editions.
New Arc Line
On the same day there’s the Early Access debut of promising Isometric CRPG New Arc Line. The game welcomes you to a world where arcane magic collides with steampunk innovation in a gripping narrative-driven RPG. Set in the vibrant yet divided city of New Arc, you take on the role of an immigrant seeking a cure for your family’s mysterious ailment, the “Iron Plague.” As you delve deeper into the city’s secrets, you’ll face societal tensions, corruption, and the ever-present conflict between technological progress and mystical traditions.
The game offers a rich character creation system, allowing players to choose between two races—humans and elves—and initial classes like the Voodoo Shaman or Dieselpunk Engineer, each bringing unique abilities and playstyles. Along the way, you’ll recruit a diverse cast of companions, each with their own personalities, backstories, and combat specialties. Together, you’ll face turn-based tactical battles where careful planning and synergy are essential to victory.
Exploration and decision-making are at the heart of New Arc Line. Your choices shape not only your character’s story but also the world around you, as alliances are formed, rivalries sparked, and the fate of New Arc itself hangs in the balance. The game’s Early Access version offers approximately 10 hours of content, covering the first quarter of the story. The developers plan to expand the experience significantly, with a full release targeted for late 2025.
Fernageddon
Fernageddon is a turn-based RPG and strategy game that plunges you into a grim and fantastical world where the Great Lord of Fire has declared the end of all things. Launching on November 29, 2024, the game combines deep tactical combat, expansive exploration, and robust character development to deliver a rich gameplay experience.
You start as a lowly devotee of the Fire God, tasked with proving your worth. Through your journey, you’ll recruit a diverse retinue of allies, ranging from humans to beasts and otherworldly creatures, each contributing to the strategic complexity of your battles. The game’s combat system emphasizes tactical depth, taking into account a variety of factors such as positioning, abilities, and synergistic interactions between your units.
Character progression is at the heart of Fernageddon, offering 52 distinct professions and over 200 skills that evolve from an initial choice of four basic classes. The branching development paths allow for highly personalized playstyles. Exploration unfolds across a 3D world teeming with dungeons, ancient ruins, bustling cities, and legendary sites, all rendered in a unique visual style blending hand-drawn and AI-enhanced art.
Blue Hunter
Let’s close the Weekly recap with Blue Hunter. A roguelite deckbuilder that combines combat with RPG-style progression in a dark, monster-filled world. Developed and published by NourSaiFR, the game releases into Early Access on November 28, 2024, offering a chance to dive into its fast-paced, card-based battles and rich customization.
You take on the role of a hunter striving for godhood, traversing a hostile realm teeming with deadly creatures. Combat centers on a unique deckbuilding mechanic: after defeating monsters, you can revive them as undead allies to add to your deck. This allows you to shape your strategy dynamically, experimenting with different card synergies and playstyles.
Progression in Blue Hunter extends beyond the deck. Level up your character and allocate stats that boost health, power, or other key abilities, tailoring your hunter to your preferred tactics. A high-risk “sacrifice” mechanic lets you trade resources or allies for immense short-term power, adding tension and reward to critical decisions.
The Early Access version offers complete dungeon runs, with diverse monsters, dungeon environments, and epic boss battles. Core systems, including stat customization, monster recruitment, and a progression loop, are fully implemented. Developers plan frequent updates during Early Access to introduce more monsters, skills, bosses, and scaling difficulty, with a full release projected within 3 to 6 months. For those curious to explore the game’s mechanics and atmosphere early, a free demo is available on Steam.
