Let’s make Monday a little easier with a recap of all the RPGs and strategy games coming out this week.
Happy Monday, everyone, if such a thing exists. Here’s my weekly release recap, and the real headline is that I actually managed to get this out on time. This week isn’t exactly crowded, think of it more like a small but solid party.
The week really kicks off on May 27, with the release of the free prologue for the CRPG Sector Unknown. Developed by Creative Storm Entertainment, the studio behind Raiders! Forsaken Earth and the Age of Gladiators series, this game catapults us into a futuristic setting where players traverse multiple planets. You’ll be hunting down dangerous targets and dispatching characters to research new technologies.
Needless to say, the game draws clear inspiration from genre staples like Fallout and Wasteland, and it’s shaping up to be quite an intriguing project.
Also dropping on May 27 is the debut of Sol Cesto, developed by Tambouille, Géraud Zucchini, and Chariospirale. And to be completely honest with you—as always—I have no clue what this game is exactly. It looks like a puzzle game with a distinctly unique art style, unique enough to pique my curiosity. Fortunately, there’s a playable demo available, which I’ll definitely be checking out in the coming days.
A day after is Seeds of Calamity Early Access debut. Joining the vast and ever-popular genre of life simulators is this Japanese-inspired RPG developed solely by Laborious Lark. Inside, you’ll find everything you’d expect from this kind of game: seasonal farming and harvesting, turn-based combat, exploration, crafting, and a lot more you can learn in my overview.
Another standout release this week is As We Descend by Box Dragon. This is a dark, stylish roguelite featuring tactical combat and a surprisingly deep strategic layer where you manage and develop your base. What really grabs attention are the boss fights—massive, visually impressive encounters that look genuinely exciting. Originally slated for a March release, the game was delayed to May, but we’re just days away from seeing what it’s really made of.
Then, on May 29, the most high-profile title of the week lands: the JRPG Fuga: Melodies of Steel 3. This marks the final chapter in a fairly well-known series where anthropomorphic characters pilot a massive tank. I personally spent a few hours with the first entry but never fully dived in. According to the devs, you don’t need to have played the first two games to enjoy this one, though a little background certainly doesn’t hurt. It’s set to release on PC, Nintendo Switch, and PlayStation.
Another fairly well-known series is Panzer Corps, and this week sees the release of a new DLC for its second installment, titled Ghost Division. This expansion focuses on the legendary 7th Panzer Division and its impact during World War II, introducing an entirely new campaign. While I’m not personally familiar with the series, I know it has a strong, dedicated following, making this a noteworthy release.
Lastly, we’ve got the debut of a real-time-with-pause RPG roguelite called Successor, which I mentioned earlier in the week. Developed by the creators of Wartile, this title brings back the stunning diorama-style visuals that defined Playwood Project’s earlier game. With a range of unlockable miniatures and tactical depth, it’s definitely a game to keep an eye on as it enters Early Access.
That wraps up this week’s key releases. As always, you’ll find a list of all the games mentioned below, and don’t forget to stop by the Reddit channel and social pages to say hi. Have a great week. Ciao
