Getting the opportunity and the funds together to build your own gaming PC is the dream of many people across the globe, and if you are taking steps towards achieving this dream, then there are a handful of things that you should know and be considering going in. This article aims to guide you through the process of planning out and building your dream PC so that you end up happy with the result.

Stage 1: Planning

Pulling the trigger and building yourself a high-quality gaming machine is no simple task and it is often extremely expensive, both of which are brilliant reasons for you to take your time and think everything through as you go. You don’t want to plunge headfirst into a pile of mistakes after all.

Step 1 – Research. The very first thing you are going to want to do when it comes to putting your plans together for your computer is research. There are many base components that go into a computer – your motherboard, your central processing unit (CPU), your graphics processing unit (GPU), your random access memory (RAM), your storage which can take the form of a hard disk drive (HDD) or a solid-state drive (SSD), and your power supply – and each of them will have to be fully compatible for your end system to work. There are more components than these base six, but these are where you should begin your planning as without them, your computer will not function.

Step 2 – Budgeting. Once you know the basics of your future computer, the next thing you should do is set a definitive budget for your computer building project. It can be easy to get carried away with all the amazing things you could do with a PC, so knowing a hard and fast price limit is a good way to keep you from going too crazy on components.

Step 3 – Important Extras. While the innards of your computer are, without a doubt, the most important part, you should make certain to spare some time for the other parts that you are going to need to get your component working. Your case, your keyboard, a monitor, an operating system, your mouse, maybe even a paracord mouse cable from MouseOne might feel secondary to getting the best computer you can, but without solid peripherals, the best computer in the world would be utterly useless.

Step 4 – Design. Now that you know everything you need, take some time, and make a definitive plan. Keep checking your budget and when you’re happy, make all of your purchases. Then wait for it all to arrive.

Stage 2: Building

This can be quite an intimidating stage, but in all honesty, computer components are well marked and designed to fit together easily. Find a good tutorial online, take your time to make sure you’re careful, and everything should work out perfectly fine.

Stage 3: Play

Finally, now that you’ve got everything set up and good to go, all that’s left to do is to download your favorite games and play. This is by far the best stage of building your own PC!
