Ignited Steel: Mech Tactics is a turn-based combat game with mechas, drawing heavy inspiration from Subset Games titles FTL: Faster Than Light and Into the Breach. So, how does it compare against its older counterparts in the genre? Discover the answer in this review!
Steam Next Fest 2022 featured hundreds of upcoming titles, giving players a glimpse of great things to come. The turn-based offerings were particularly good this time around, and it was hard to whittle down this list to just ten titles. Some are just around the corner, and others have an unspecified release date further down the line, but barring any unforeseen challenges (never a guarantee in today’s world) most of these games will be available by the end of 2022.
One of the many titles with demos available as part of Steam’s Next Fest event is Yokaicade’s Ignited Steel: Mech Tactics. This was always a title to watch, and we listed it as one of our top 20 indie games to look forward to in 2022. With the release date just weeks away and a demo ready to play, I can confidently say that the hype is real.
A good tactical RPG has so much to offer – engaging storylines, deep characters, and of course compelling combat gameplay. It’s a genre that has inspired thousands of players and creators, some of whom go on to make their own games which in turn inspire others. Developers across the world are working hard right now to bring their dreams to life, and that means players can look forward to a full suite of TRPGs in 2022. Who knows – one of these titles could be the next classic!
