15 Turn-Based RPG Deals You Only Have a Few Hours Left to Grab

You’ve got a short window to grab this week’s Steam deals, with only 10 hours or less remaining. The 15 titles listed here all fall within the turn-based RPG and strategy games, with discounts reaching up to 90% off their usual prices. All discounts mentioned below refer to the base game or standard edition and don’t include bundles that may also be available on each game’s store page.

Rogue Trader

Of all the games included in this sale, Rogue Trader is personally one of the first I’d recommend, especially if you’re looking for a substantial party-based RPG. Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader is currently 70% off, and Owlcat’s adventure puts you in command of a voidship and a crew whose loyalties don’t always align.

You’ll travel across the Koronus Expanse, visiting different worlds and making decisions that can have significant consequences for their inhabitants. Combat is fully turn-based, with cover, positioning, psychic powers, companion abilities, and plenty of character development to experiment with.

Pillars of Eternity II with turn-based mode

Speaking of companions, Obsidian’s Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire is 60% off, and it has a lot to offer fans of the genre. In Deadfire, you’ll sail across an archipelago, visiting different ports and completing quests along the way.

One of its strongest features is the multiclass system, which lets you combine abilities from different classes.

Deadfire also includes a turn-based combat option alongside its original real-time-with-pause system. Overall, if I were judging these deals purely by how much game you get for your money, I think Deadfire would be extremely difficult to pass up.

Rogue Waters Tactical RPG

Continuing sailing brings us to Rogue Waters, currently 75% off, though it’s structured more like a tactical roguelite. Before boarding an enemy vessel, you’ll use your cannons to weaken its crew and damage the ship, giving you an advantage before combat moves onto the deck.

Positioning creates opportunities to push enemies into obstacles, use ropes to move around the battlefield, and summon sea creatures to help during fights. If you enjoy tactical combat but aren’t sure you want to commit to yet another massive RPG, I think Rogue Waters makes a lot of sense.

Jagged Alliance 3

Next up is Jagged Alliance 3, available at a massive 90% discount. Even if it had been sitting somewhere near the bottom of my wishlist for months, I’d still be tempted at this price. You’ll recruit mercenaries, equip them with gear, and send them into turn-based battles while managing a larger campaign across Grand Chien.

Beyond the individual firefights, there are several strategic layers to consider, including capturing territory, training local defenders, and coordinating multiple squads. The distinct personalities of your mercenaries also add another layer to managing your teams.

For a different take on tactical gunfights, Mutant Year Zero: Road to Eden is available at 70% off. Its real-time exploration and stealth mechanics allow you to scout enemy positions before initiating a turn-based battle. Because of this, setting up an ambush can be almost as important as what happens once combat begins. You can isolate enemies, position your mutants carefully, and attempt to eliminate individual targets before everything turns chaotic.

Compared to many tactical games, Mutant Year Zero keeps its broader strategic layer relatively manageable, which is why I still find it very easy to recommend to anyone who enjoys meaningful positioning without having to manage an overly complex campaign system.

Gloomhaven Turn-based Rpg

If you’d rather have something more demanding, Gloomhaven is 72% off. This digital adaptation of the board game requires careful consideration of how much of your party’s strength you’re willing to spend in each encounter.

Every party member selects two ability cards each round, using the upper action of one card and the lower action of the other. Those same cards also determine how long each character can remain active during a scenario. Burning through powerful abilities too early can leave you scrambling for weaker options later. If you enjoy planning several turns ahead, I’d definitely keep this one near the top of your list.

Cards and positioning also come together in Beneath Oresa, currently 70% off. This roguelite deckbuilder presents its encounters as animated arena battles, where movement between zones and positioning enemies can be just as important as the cards in your hand. Each run pairs a hero with a companion whose abilities affect your overall strategy, while card upgrades provide alternative paths instead of simply increasing numerical values.

I think this is especially worth checking out if you already own many of the more obvious deckbuilders and want something with a slightly different mechanical approach.

Griftlands

Griftlands also comes with a 70% discount, but unlike Beneath Oresa, it uses cards in both negotiations and combat.

Each of the three protagonists develops separate negotiation and battle decks, giving you different ways to handle jobs, arguments, and fights throughout a run. Relationships matter as well: killing someone can make their friends hostile toward you, while helping the right people can provide useful advantages later. For me, this is where Griftlands becomes particularly interesting: deckbuilding isn’t separate from the story but constantly interacts with it.

Another less obvious choice is Krzyżacy – The Knights of the Cross, currently 50% off. The game places a strong emphasis on recruiting companions whose abilities react to the cards you play in combat.

Krzyżacy

Building an effective deck, therefore, means considering which allies you bring and how often you can activate their skills. Progressing through companion storylines can also unlock exclusive cards or relics, tying narrative progression directly into the combat systems. If you’ve already played most of the bigger names in the genre, I think Krzyżacy is worth checking out if you’re looking for something outside the usual recommendations.

Moving away from card-based character development and into more traditional JRPG territory, Dragon Quest VII Reimagined is currently 35% off. It’s a relatively modest discount compared to many of the other games here, but I think it’s still worth considering if you were already planning to pick it up.

Dragon Quest VII Reimagined revisits the original journey through the past and present, featuring diorama-style environments and a streamlined narrative divided into individual island stories.

Dragon Quest VII Reimagined

One of its key additions is the Moonlighting System, which allows each party member to equip two vocations simultaneously, granting access to the skills, spells, and perks of both. Adjustable battle speed and automatic victories against significantly weaker enemies also help keep exploration moving.

More extensive party customization is available in Etrian Odyssey III HD, currently 65% off, although here you’ll create your own Adventurer’s Guild and map the dungeons yourself. First-person exploration, class selection, and careful party composition are central to the experience.

Regular trips back to town give you the chance to rest, upgrade equipment, and reconsider your party setup. If creating parties and experimenting with different class combinations are among your favorite parts of JRPGs, I’d definitely recommend taking a closer look at Etrian Odyssey III HD. The HD version also includes mouse support for mapping, additional save slots, and difficulty options.

Shin Megami Tensei III Nocturne

Then there’s Shin Megami Tensei III Nocturne HD Remaster, also 70% off, although I’d keep in mind that it can still be quite unforgiving. Party-building works differently here, as you negotiate with demons and then fuse them into new allies. The Press Turn system rewards you with additional actions when you successfully exploit enemy weaknesses.

Because of this, adjusting your demon roster and understanding elemental affinities become essential when dealing with tougher encounters. In my opinion, Nocturne remains one of the clearest examples of a JRPG where properly understanding the combat system really matters.

From building a party to shaping an entire civilization, we move to Age of Wonders 4, currently available at 50% off.

You’ll create a faction and guide it through a fantasy 4X campaign, establishing cities, exploring the map, and commanding armies in tactical turn-based battles. Researching magical tomes unlocks new abilities and can even physically transform your people over the course of a campaign.

Age of Wonders 4

If I were looking for the game in this selection with the most sandbox potential, Age of Wonders 4 would probably be one of the first I’d check, especially if you enjoy creating unusual factions and seeing how far you can push a particular strategy.

The approach to magical conquest in SpellForce: Conquest of Eo, currently 75% off, focuses more closely on the career of an individual wizard. You’ll recruit heroes and troops, gather resources, research spells, and improve a wizard tower that can eventually be moved around the map.

Choosing among the Alchemist, Artificer, and Necromancer classes changes how you approach crafting, units, and progression. SpellForce sits somewhere between RPG progression and strategy-game expansion, and I’d especially recommend checking it out if you like the idea of a strategy game centered more on your wizard’s rise to power than on managing a traditional empire.

Kings Bounty 2

Finally, we have King’s Bounty II, which matches Jagged Alliance 3 with a 90% discount. Its fantasy campaign follows one of three protagonists, with an army that you recruit, develop, and command through turn-based encounters.

Exploration and narrative quests alternate with tactical battles where troop composition and positioning play an important role. While it may not be the first name that comes to mind when discussing modern tactical RPGs, at 90% off, I think King’s Bounty II becomes much easier to take a chance on, especially if you’ve always been curious about the series.
