I tried this interesting traditional roguelike some time ago, where you play a cleric tasked with wiping out the forces of evil without ever looking back. The game is called Blessing in the Darkness, it’s developed by Oldbookstudio, and I think it’s definitely worth keeping on your radar, especially since it’s launching on PC in just a few hours.

The game takes a chess-like approach: having the required resource lets you eliminate an enemy and occupy its tile while limited supplies and light management accompany a cleric’s journey through a kingdom overrun by the Black Knight’s forces.
Progression includes Divine Items, skill and attribute upgrades, and random ruse cards that alter the rules. Predictable attacks, then, don’t mean the adventure is entirely free of randomness.

Game Boy-inspired pixel art gives the dungeons their retro look. Boss victories also trigger the end-of-dungeon autosave, making those encounters important milestones in the journey.
Blessing in the Darkness is scheduled to launch on October 14, 2026, for Windows PC through Steam. A playable demo is available now.
