Band of Crusaders is one of my most anticipated strategy RPGs and has returned to the spotlight at Gamescom today with brand-new gameplay footage, giving a closer look at the grim tactical RPG from Warsaw-based studio Virtual Alchemy and publisher NCSOFT Corporation.

Set against the backdrop of medieval Europe during a demonic invasion, the game casts players as the Grandmaster of a knightly order, commanding weary conscripts through a land ravaged by bandits, cultists, and hellspawn.
One year after its reveal, Band of Crusaders has already gained momentum with more than 60,000 wishlists, and the developers confirmed that a demo will arrive soon on both Steam and GOG.
The trailer highlights the game’s mix of real-time tactical combat and careful camp management, where players must not only lead warriors into battle but also tend to their wounds, repair their equipment, and ensure they are fed before marching forward.

Combat leans on realism rather than fantasy, relying on swords, spears, and shields instead of magical powers. Players can slow down the action with tactical time controls to plan maneuvers such as flanking, ambushes, or direct charges.
Between battles, progression unfolds through an expansive overworld of continental Europe, with emergent quests and encounters tied to rising levels of demonic corruption.
Art Director Kamil Mickiewicz explains the vision behind the project: “Our artistic approach to Band of Crusaders merges historically authentic representations of medieval tools, armor, and weaponry, with demonic creatures inspired by biblical descriptions and European folklore. These men are not heroes, they have no supernatural powers to call upon, they’re just what’s left.”
Band of Crusaders is expected to release on PC, with wishlists open now on Steam and GOG. A demo is on the way. Keep following for new updates. Below the Gamescom new gameplay trailer.
