The long-running strategy series returns with Early Access launching on April 30 for PC, Microsoft Store, and PC Game Pass
Heroes of Might and Magic: Olden Era now officially has a solid Early Access Launch Date. The long-awaited Return to Strategy will begin on April 30, 2026, on Steam, along with support for the Microsoft Store and Day One Support for PC Game Pass.
As stated by Ubisoft, Olden Era is an Official Prequel to the Classic Games, taking place in the land of Jadame which was referenced in previous games but never featured in a Main Title. Ubisoft originally framed Olden Era as a Return to the Classic Split between Overworld Exploration and Tactical Battles. Some of their inspiration came directly from Heroes of Might and Magic III.
Olden Era will include Six Unique Factions, Three Different Play Modes that can be played in Single Player or Multiplayer. In addition to these features, the Opening Act of the Narrative Campaign will be included as well as Self Contained Scenarios, and a Map Editor for Custom Creations.
Olden Era will stay in Early Access for roughly a Year. During this Timeframe, they plan to add to the Full Version by expanding upon the Campaign, Adding Additional Scenarios and Map Templates, Improving Upon the Current Map Editor and adding an additional Layer called “Underground”.
This marks an Important Milestone for a Series that has gone quiet for Years in regards to New Entries into the Franchise.
The game is a Modern Take on the Classic Formula of City Management, Hero Progression, Army Building, Turn-Based Tactical Combat etc., but will also introduce newer Systems such as Faction Specific Progression Mechanics and Expanded Unit Abilities.
Last year Ubisoft announced that there will be a Free Demo as Part of the Road to Launch and that Demo was made available during the Franchises’ 30th Anniversary Celebration.
Olden Era finally has a Date Locked-In. April 30 is when the Next Chapter in the Series begins for PC Gamers on Steam, and honestly i can’t wait.
