Iron Loop Games has shown that the tactical RPG dark fantasy game Instruments of Power is coming along well, as it now has a second new trailer released and some new gameplay screens.
There was over six months of development on the game’s environment, enemy AI, visual effects and user interface before the recent update to the playtest that addressed improvements to the tutorials, bugs in gameplay, changes to the game’s balance, additional interactions within the game environment, and many of the problems related to maps and interfaces. The full version of Instruments of Power is still expected to be released on Steam in 2026.
The game’s storyline revolves around a mage who discovers something so significant that it causes her to lose her physical body.
She loses control of this discovery, which releases an ancient evil that ravages the world. To fight against this ancient evil, the mage fights from a sanctuary located outside of space and time. From this sanctuary, the mage sends out her avatars (expendable bodies) into battle.
The unique feature of the game allows the player to create custom spells, but each avatar can also act as a weapon; however, the cost to use these avatars to attack is high.
Therefore, the player will need to consider the amount of damage he or she wants to cause in battle and the cost to achieve this goal. This creates a strategic aspect to the game due to the fact that every time the mage uses one of his or her avatars, the mage is burning resources, creating a decision of whether the mage should spend the resources now to win the battle quickly or if the mage should save some of the resources for future battles.
Additionally, when the mage finds and controls Sites of Power, this will allow her to expand her influence in the world. When the mage upgrades her catalysts, this will unlock additional passive bonuses. Lastly, the mage will be able to make decisions throughout the game that will lead to two different possible endings.
