The Song of Trees arrives with Smart Delivery, cloud saves, and just enough polish to make its 90-degree turns feel at home on modern consoles.
Legends of Amberland II: The Song of Trees has landed on Xbox, slipping onto both Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S with a $19.99 tag and a small launch discount.

It’s the latest step in the slow but steady march of Silver Lemur Games’ retro RPG onto every platform, after a PC debut in 2023 and a Switch release earlier this month.
This is the kind of RPG that doesn’t pretend to be anything but what it is: a throwback to the ‘90s, where you shuffle a party of seven across a gridded map, spin 90 degrees at a time, and watch battles play out in turns.
Weak enemies can be brushed aside with a quick resolve button, bags never truly fill thanks to a magical catch-all sack, and fast travel makes backtracking less of a chore. It’s classic dungeon crawling without the tedium that often came with it.

On Xbox, there are a few extra comforts. Smart Delivery means no fuss about which version you’re running, cloud saves carry progress between machines, and achievements slot neatly into the system. The Series X|S edition also gets a bit of polish to make it run smoother on the newer kit.
The Amberland games all share a world and a tone of lighthearted, heroic fantasy, but they don’t demand knowledge of one another.
You can step into The Song of Trees without touching the first game and not feel like you’ve missed a prequel. After a delay that pushed console versions into 2025, the forests, dungeons, and sleepy towns of Amberland are finally open to Xbox players looking for a very specific sort of old-school adventure.
