Space Scum, the Battle Brothers-inspired sci-fi strategy RPG has released a new animated trailer that puts more focus on the game’s tone and world giving players another look at the kind of mercenary crew they will be managing in Sole Survivor Games’ sci fi tactical RPG.

The trailer is now live through the game’s latest Steam announcement, which also confirms that the demo is still available during Steam Next Fest. The full game is currently listed for a 2026 release on PC, with Forklift Interactive handling publishing duties.
For anyone discovering it for the first time, Space Scum is built around turn-based squad combat on procedurally generated planets, with players managing a band of mercenaries across shifting missions, factions, and hostile environments.

Featuring a punishing progression loop where mercs can level up and build reputation, but dead squadmates are gone for good. Combat leave room for different squad roles, including melee fighters, ranged specialists, and support units built around shields, hacking, and turrets.
The playable demo, titled Space Scum Demo: First Blood, went live on February 17 and is still available as part of Steam Next Fest, which runs from February 23 to March 2.
The developers are also asking players to use the in-game feedback form after playing, with the goal of improving balance, combat flow, and the broader direction of the project. Below is the animated trailer.
