In the latest Steam post, Tactical Adventures officially announced that Solasta II is switching to the 2024 D&D ruleset, based on the recently released SRD 5.2. The developer has confirmed that the new edition, first teased as One D&D and now known as the 2024 ruleset, will be the foundation for Solasta II going forward. It’s a significant move, and one that reflects the team’s ongoing commitment to evolving the game’s tactical depth while staying true to the tabletop spirit.

For players unfamiliar with the difference, the original Solasta: Crown of the Magister used the 2014 version of the SRD. The 2024 update brings a host of long-requested improvements: new combat mechanics like Weapon Masteries that give martial classes more tactical options, streamlined class design, and revised features to fix long-standing balance concerns.

Fighters, Clerics, Sorcerers, and more all receive meaningful changes that open up new build possibilities. If you tried the Solasta II demo earlier this year, it was still running on the older ruleset; however, the full version is now being retooled to incorporate these 2024 changes. Here are all the details about the switch.

Solasta II Announced

Solasta II is promising a deeper, more flexible experience without sacrificing the game’s roots. Building on what made Solasta: Crown of the Magister stand out, the sequel brings us to a new land, Neokos, where danger brews under the influence of a mysterious threat known as Shadwyn. You’ll once again form a party of four adventurers, but this time with more freedom to explore, more narrative weight tied to your characters’ legacy, and an updated ruleset.

Solasta II is expected to be released in early access on PC via Steam later this year.
