Dice Gambit Review

The patch expands post-campaign play with tougher runs, layered starting conditions, and a couple of new toys.

Dice Gambit by Chromatic Ink just rolled out a New Game+ Content Update, built to answer a common complaint since launch. Finishing the campaign used to feel like a hard stop. Now, any completed save can jump into New Game+, allowing players to continue without starting over from scratch. Here is our review of it.

New Game+ kicks off a new playthrough with the same family and characters. The campaign is tuned up with stronger enemies and larger party sizes, so the tempo should feel more aggressive right away.

Players also get a chance to adjust Starting Conditions before the run begins. Relations and academy unlocks reset, which keeps the second run from turning into a pure victory lap and pushes players back into building momentum again.

The update also supports multiple New Game+ runs with the same family. That makes it easier to experiment with difficulty and rule sets without committing to one long path.

To help with that experimentation, Dice Gambit now adds additive presets that layer on top of other starting condition setups. NG+ Suggestions is a curated set aimed at adding variety early in New Game+.

Roguelite-like pushes faster campaign pacing and quicker progression. Randomizer reshuffles academies and starting tools to keep repeat runs unpredictable. Chaos Gremlin leans into volatility by reducing control over dice outcomes, which changes how you plan risk and recovery.

The patch also drops two notable gameplay additions. Reckless Attack is a new ability designed by a community member after winning a bet against one of the devs. There is also a new modifier called Gamba Enjoyer, which removes the ability to gain re-rolls at the start of each turn, forcing cleaner decision-making under pressure.

On the quality of life side, the options menu now includes Mute In Background, which is off by default but should be handy for anyone who tabs out often.

Several fixes ship with the update, too. Bloodlust should no longer trigger on invulnerable units. A softlock early in Act 3 tied to Aurelia going down during the Alexi Confrontation has been addressed. The patch also fixes cases where class titles did not show correctly in Japanese, Chinese, and Korean translations.

Dice Gambit’s team says more is coming, but this update already changes the game’s endpoint. The campaign now has a reason to loop, and the new modifier layers give repeat runs more bite than a simple difficulty bump. You can find Dice Gambit on PC via Steam.
