Turn-Based Strategy Meets Board Game Tactics
Avante! Atlantis is officially in playable shape, and we can check out the demo, which is now live on Steam. Developed by Danilo Nunes Paulo of Poncho Studios, this indie tactics title mixes Advance Wars-style strategy with board game flavor, dice-based modifiers, and a colorful, war-torn world where the legendary city of Atlantis has suddenly reemerged.
The current demo features both single-player and local/Steam Remote Play multiplayer modes. You can play as one of three factions: Garnet Eagles, Sapphire Lions, or Jade Foxes, each with its own flavor and playstyle.
Three commanders are available as well, each offering special powers that can turn the tide of battle. There are six maps in rotation (three with pre-deployed units, three with deployment phase enabled), and while the unit pool is still expanding, you already get a good feel for the game’s rhythm and tactical flow.
I also appreciated the gallery and story synopsis feature that hints at a deeper lore unfolding behind the action. A written tutorial is in the works, and more playable tutorials are on the way.
