ByteRockers’ Games has unexpectedly launched its tactical roguelite deckbuilder on PC, introducing turn-based battles shaped by seasonal effects, hex-grid positioning, and a spreading supernatural corruption.
ByteRockers’ Games has surprised fans with the unexpected release of its tactical roguelike deck-builder on PC. The new game offers turn-based battles influenced by a number of elements: seasonal events, location in a hexagonally laid-out grid, and the growing presence of a supernatural element known as “corruption” that is spreading over time.

As part of its first Steam Publisher sale, ByteRockers’ Games released Solnox: Grimoire of Seasons on PC today.
This is a unique game that combines the gameplay mechanics of a deck builder, hex-grid-based turn-based tactics, and a changing seasonal environment. Solnox takes place in a world that is being overrun by corrupted animals.
The game’s objective is for players to take control of powerful “Wardens” who are tasked with reclaiming nature back from these corrupted animals. While individual encounters are relatively small (each one occurs in a hex-shaped arena), positioning and timing play a key role in determining whether an encounter is won or lost.

Players have to consider factors such as the order they draw cards (known as “rune stones”), how many spaces they can move per turn, what targets are selected, etc., all before drawing those cards to determine the outcome of each round.
The most distinctive feature of Solnox is its cyclical model of seasons. At the beginning of each combat round, the current season transitions into the next one, providing players with an opportunity to benefit from advantages provided by that season.
For example, during springtime, players earn an extra rune stone when they defeat enemies. During summertime, players get increased damage from rune stones they’ve drawn. During autumn, players gain an increase in movement space allowing them greater flexibility in terms of escaping danger or preparing their next attack.

And finally, during wintertime, players receive increased defensive capabilities as well as improved defensive rune abilities, making it easier to survive longer than would be normally expected.
In addition to the Wardens, Solnox features an opposing force called the Last Season. As each round is completed, this corruption spreads across the map infecting some areas. When standing on a hex that has been infected by the Last Season, up to two of your rune stones may become disabled for a period of time, limiting your potential combinations and possibly derailing plans you had previously made.
As such, avoiding infected hexes or knowing when it is acceptable to enter them creates another level of complexity.

Solnox uses a traditional branching roguelite format. Each time a player enters a new area, they have multiple choices (battles, shops, healers, and mysterious zones). Over time, the amount of progress achieved will unlock three playable Wardens and six initial decks.
These additional options offer players new ways to approach Solnox for subsequent attempts.
As mentioned earlier, the surprise launch is part of ByteRockers’ Games inaugural Publisher Sale on Steam. The sale includes discounts for several other titles developed using a hex-based style including kingdom building game Let Them Trade, mountain climbing roguelite Insurmountable, and bee-themed tower defense game BeeFense BeeMastered. Solnox: Grimoire of Seasons is available today on PC through Steam.
