Typically, when you win a tactical RPG, most units survive or is what you aim at. Demons’ Night Fever does something else.
The first gameplay trailer for the game depicts a grid-based SRPG where Allied Units can be drained, detonated, and turned back into units as part of the main progression loop. The trailer premiered during Arc System Works Showcase 2026, along with the news that the game will come out later this year for PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam. Arc System Works will publish the project while Drecom and SuperNiche handle development.

The Peon Exploitation System is the primary mechanic. Players use expendable underlings across battlefields. Those Peons aren’t treated as typical party members. There are Kill Skills and Sacrifices to kill off friendly units. The trailer demonstrates an Evil Deed command draining health from an ally and it looks a a key element of the battle.
These Soldiers do not die. Killed Peons have greater strength after each reincarnation, linking immediate battlefield decision making with long-term character advancement.
Sacrificing a unit might wipe out multiple enemies at once; that sacrifice returns as a better source of resources for future battles. The system could give players more importance to positioning because Peons can be attackers, shields, sources of health, or possible area damage depending on their position.

Pratically, a unit’s planned death could be worth more than a unit staying active for a single turn.
Bad Behavior follows throughout the Base. Bad deeds earn Perverse Points that can be used to recruit Peons and search for treasures. Arc System Works also said that there were Abductions and Pillaging as a way to grow the army in a short amount of time.
All of the above is happening due to Giga Super Death, a strong Devil, who was about to destroy God until he was changed into a helpless infant.
His response was to activate Demons’ Night Fever Resurrection Program, an alternate reality ritual that would pull Killshiro Katanaka, a bitter programmer into his plan. Both formed an alliance and began building Giga Super Death’s power while planning to fight against a false God hiding behind words of justice.

Each Chapter puts the campaign into a distorted environment. In one section the player plays as a monster fighting a team of Super Rangers. Another section had the player become a witch and crush Magical Girls. After defeating a Chapter Boss the environment is changed again, creating an episodic format based upon new villains, environments, and various types of misconduct.
The overall tone is clearly comedic darkly, with over-exaggerated character names and very obvious versions of familiar anime archetypes.
It seems impossible to ignore that Disgaea was a source of inspiration here, however this game is even bigger than that visual humor and demon-filled world. Demons’ Night Fever is created and written by Sohei Niikawa, ex-Nippon Ichi Software President who worked on Disgaea and Rhapsody.
Niikawa stated dark comic fantasy as one of his main areas of interest. Also Niikawa stated that this project started with its mechanics first. Drecom developed some early playability ideas and Niikawa made the characters and story from them.
Yuji Himukai who worked on the Etrian Odyssey series is credited as doing the character designs. Tatsuya Yano is responsible for composing the music while Niikawa wrote under his Roman Kitayama pen name.
Demons’ Night Fever will come out in 2026 for PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch and PC (Steam), however no specific date was given yet.
