Deck13 Spotlight and solo developer 2ndPlayerGames have announced a new 2.5HD JRPG about floating cities, ruined lands, and a generation raised to save what is left of humanity.

A new announcement, exactly the kind I personally like. Full Circle, a new JRPG from solo developer 2ndPlayerGames and publisher Deck13 Spotlight, was officially revealed during the Indie Quest 2026 Showcase.

Full Circle Combat System

The game is in development for PC and consoles, with a first playable demo planned for Gamescom later this year.

The game takes clear inspiration from the PlayStation 1 era of Japanese RPGs. The developer cites Lunar, Breath of Fire, early Final Fantasy, and The Legend of Dragoon among the main reference points. Full Circle uses that foundation for a modern RPG with 2.5HD pixel art, faster controls, and a battle system that adds real-time timing to classic turn-based combat.

Its world is built around a grim idea. Humanity has fled the surface and now survives in flying cities, far above a planet filled with mutated beasts, hostile creatures, and old ruins.

Exploration

These cities still depend on the land below, so young heroes are trained to leave safety behind, venture into the wilds, and gather what their people need to survive.

That mission soon becomes more complicated. During a journey beyond the walls, the heroes discover survivors, rival cities, and hidden truths that challenge the version of history they grew up with.

Combat is one of the game’s main features. Full Circle uses what Deck13 Spotlight calls “constant flow combat,” a turn-based system built around timed inputs, chained attacks, combos, and party swaps.

Full Circle JRPG

It keeps the structure of a traditional JRPG battle, but asks players to stay involved from one action to the next. The idea sounds close to the action-command systems that helped games like The Legend of Dragoon stand out, where good timing can change the rhythm of a fight.

Players can bring four active characters into battle, with four more held in reserve. Each party member has their own skills, gear options, and combat role, giving players room to experiment with synergies and different setups. Characters also have abilities tied to exploration, which can be used to solve environmental challenges or reach new parts of the world.

Full Circle will send players through floating cities, ancient ruins, survivor settlements, and wild regions on the surface. The announcement mentions creature taming, salvaging technology, hidden quests, and different cultures shaped by the divided world.

World Map Exploration

Those elements suggest a game that wants exploration to feel tied to both progression and story, rather than acting as a simple path between battles.

The tone is described as bittersweet, with a coming-of-age story built around hope, loss, and uncomfortable discoveries. Full Circle is not only about fighting monsters on a ruined planet. It is also about what happens when people raised for one purpose begin to question who gave them that purpose in the first place.

2ndPlayerGames is a solo developer from Peru. According to the announcement, he grew up watching his brother play JRPGs and originally dreamed of creating music for one.

new JRPG announced

That path eventually led him to teach himself game development and create Full Circle, described as his personal tribute to the genre he grew up with.

Full Circle does not have a release date yet. The game is planned for PC via Steam and consoles, and players will get their first chance to try it at Gamescom later this year.
