Oxobox Games Studios’ long-running strategy project will include a narrative campaign, online and local multiplayer, custom boards, tactical puzzles, and extensive visual customization.
Most turn-based strategy games give players the comfort of seeing an opponent’s move before choosing how to respond. Sente removes that safety net. Every participant plans and commits an action at the same time, transforming each round into a contest of prediction, deception, and forward planning. The strategic board game from Oxobox Games Studios and publisher Curveball Games will launch on PC on August 11, 2026.

Inspired by the accessibility of games such as Chess and Go but built around an original ruleset, Sente tasks players with placing nodes and connecting them into energy networks across the battlefield.
The objective is to extend a network into an opposing core, triggering a critical overload and a potentially match-changing chain reaction. Players can also interfere with rival connections, reshape control of the board, and set up combinations that may only reveal their full value several turns later.

The simultaneous-turn system means that a seemingly perfect plan can fall apart when an opponent makes an unexpected move at the same moment. Players must study the available information, anticipate several possible actions, and decide how much risk they are willing to accept.
Dynamic board layouts add another variable, preventing every match from beginning with the same familiar setup.
Although competitive play is a major part of the experience, Sente will also feature a dedicated narrative campaign. Set in a future where artificial intelligence and advanced machines have pushed humanity into the background, the story follows Jade Clark, a human attempting to challenge the machines at their own game.

Disguised as one of them, she enters the underground world of Sente and begins climbing its competitive ranks in an effort to restore some of humanity’s lost pride.
Additional single-player options include customizable battles against several levels of AI opponents and curated puzzle scenarios designed to test a player’s understanding of networks, positioning, and chain reactions. These challenges will also provide rewards, giving solo players another way to develop their skills before entering competitive matches.
Multiplayer supports between one and six participants through both local and online play. Players can enter traditional one-on-one arenas, search for opponents through Quick Play, organize free-for-all confrontations, or divide into teams.

The larger player count should substantially change the flow of a match, as several expanding networks can collide while temporary alliances and overlapping threats complicate every prediction.
An integrated board editor allows players to construct their own battlefields and tactical challenges, while different skins can change the appearance of the board and its pieces. Completed matches can also be replayed, providing an opportunity to examine crucial decisions, identify miscalculations, and study how a single simultaneous exchange altered the final result.
The presentation combines energy beams, overloaded cores, and large chain-reaction effects with procedurally generated music that responds to the action taking place on the board.
According to the development team, the original concept behind Sente has been evolving for more than two decades, passing through numerous sketches, prototypes, and technological iterations before reaching its current form.
Sente launches on Steam on August 11, 2026. A playable demo is currently available for players interested in learning the rules and experiencing its simultaneous-turn system ahead of release. Below is the release date trailer.
