Superstar Strategy Overview

Superstar Strategy, a pixelated strategy RPG developed by Talberon Games, just announced the release date alongside a new trailer.

Superstar Strategy

On the surface, it looks like a bright, cute grid-based tactics game, but the design leans hard toward player skill and clever positioning. Every unit belongs to one of 14 classes, each with its own little toolkit.

Champions shove enemies around, Cavaliers dart in and out with hit-and-run strikes, Mages lay traps, and there is even a Vampire-style support who drains life and hands it over to allies.

Maps are built to be abused in the best way. You can push and pull enemies onto traps, slam drawbridges shut, use walls and chokepoints to stall entire formations, or vault over obstacles to flank a fragile backline.

The turn structure has each side activating one unit at a time, which keeps rounds readable and forces constant re-evaluation of threats as your opponent reacts. Many missions come with multiple win conditions.

There is a full single-player campaign wrapped around all this, set in the kingdom of Solaris, where a former soldier ends up taking mercenary work to support the child in his care.

You build up a small company, recruit new companions, and work through story battles that escalate from local skirmishes into something larger, threatening the realm. It is pitched as a “rich” campaign with progression and bespoke scenarios, closer to a classic tactics story mode than a lightweight skirmish wrapper.

Superstar Strategy is also meant to live on a couch. Local two-player competitive and co-op modes are part of the package, with support for split/shared screen play and Steam Remote Play Together on PC, so it can double as a head-to-head tactics game if you have someone nearby who enjoys puzzling over turns as much as you do.

Talberon also confirms a Nintendo Switch version planned for 2026, which should give it a second life on handheld.

For now, though, the focus is on the November 28 Steam launch and using the demo to see whether its mix of cute presentation and fairly demanding positional tactics clicks with you. Below, I share the release date trailer.
