Here’s another project that slipped through the cracks amid the countless emails I get and can barely keep up with; in any case, I found the developer Sympathy Systems’ pitch for their very intriguing top-down tactical RPG, Humanity Echo: Tactical Cyberpunk RPG.

Humanity Echo drops you into 2044, in a coastal megacity that is barely holding together. Corporations run everything, and you are an engineer pushed into leading a small squad after your father disappears.

That personal loss is what pulls you into a dirty war for freedom, caught between three forces: the Resistance, the Order of Knights, and the private military group Prospect. Every mission and every deal you accept feeds into that tug of war, reshaping districts, prices, patrol routes, and events across the city.

Humanity Echo is a cyberpunk tactical RPG with turn-based combat on a grid. You move from cover to cover, watch lines of sight, and spend your AP as efficiently as you can while trying to keep the squad in one piece.

Smoke screens, EMP grenades, special ammo, and stimulants give you ways to control the tempo of a fight, while overwatch and squad role synergy reward planning instead of rushing in.

You build your team from eight archetypes—shooter, medic, mechanic, pyromaniac, hacker, survivor, runner, and masochist—and shape them further through attributes like vitality, perception, agility, reflexes, intellect, and strength.

Between battles, your base of operations is the workshop. There, you craft weapons, flash-implants, and modifications using cobalt-chrome, composites, and rare components picked up through contracts and trade.

From rooftop terraces and port warehouses to panoramic boulevards and underground catacombs, missions play out across different corners of the city, each tied to your current contracts and alliances.

Developed by Sympathy Systems, Humanity Echo is planned for release in Q1 2026 on PC via Steam, with a demo already available if you want to start feeling out its mix of story choices and tactical combat.
