Tactics RPG Arcane Heat Overview

The developer of today’s title is the same behind Lands of Sorcery, an RPG inspired by the B-movies of the ’80s.

For their new project in development, they’ve chosen not to stray far from those influences, this time adding even more spice (adult content) with an almost over-the-top blend of pulp and sci-fi fantasy. Let me tell you more.

Arcane Heat Gameplay

Arcane Heat is not your typical strategy RPG. The upcoming Sun Bay Games title takes its cues from the sleazy action flicks of the ‘80s and ‘90s and filters them through a turn-based tactics framework.

The result is a game that mixes pulpy sci-fi with fantasy sorcery, where gun-slinging bombshells clash with dark warlords and ninja cults in a setting that looks equal parts grindhouse cinema and Saturday night VHS rental.

Arcane Heat Visual

The premise is as over-the-top as its inspirations. A classified government experiment sends a squad of highly trained, fashion-conscious operatives through a newly discovered interstellar gate.

Instead of the advanced technology they expected, they land in a medieval realm ruled by dark magic. Here, kingdoms fall under the control of an evil sorcerer, and cults of assassins lurk in the shadows.

The game centers on surviving and fighting back in this hostile world, using a mix of heavy firepower, tactical maneuvers, and supernatural encounters.

Combat System

Unlike many strategy titles, Arcane Heat strips away elements like base management and resource gathering. The focus is instead on fast-paced tactical battles. Each encounter is designed to keep players locked in the action, offering a blend of classic turn-based mechanics with the punchy energy of action cinema.

Customization plays a key role as well. Players can design their operatives in detail, adjusting hairstyles, outfits, and colors to create avatars that fit their vision. The character creator leans heavily into visual expression, and those choices carry over into every part of the game, from battlefields to story events.

Arcane Heat Customization

Sun Bay Games has also confirmed that romances will be part of the experience, giving players the opportunity to build personal connections between their squad members when they’re off duty.

In true B-movie spirit, even downtime has its own eccentric flair, with headquarters featuring a strip club as one of the places where the cast can unwind.

Though the release date is still unannounced, Arcane Heat is live with its Steam page, and you can wishlist it. Below is the gameplay trailer.
