A new story set one year before Legends of the Dark with co op and tactical positioning.
Announced a few hours ago, Terrinoth: Heroes of Descent is the first video game built directly out of Fantasy Flight Games’ Descent universe, and it comes as a dungeon crawler with turn-based tactical combat.

It is in development at Artefacts Studio and published by New Tales, with a release planned for Spring 2026 on PC and Mac via Steam plus PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and Series S.
Dark forces are stirring across Terrinoth, and a hidden relic could decide what happens next if the wrong hands reach it first. The game tells a fully original story that works as a standalone prequel to Descent: Legends of the Dark, set one year earlier, so it aims to be readable even if you have not followed the board game line.

A free demo is already live on Steam, and it includes the tutorial and the first dungeon, The Crypts of Aerendor, where the party answers Baroness Harriet the Willful’s call to investigate an undead incursion under Aerendor Keep.
The game features an exploration that happens in real time, then fights shift into turn-based encounters. The developers call out elevation, line of sight, and timing as core tools, with multi-character combos that can be finished through Synergy attacks.

Your party comes from eight signature adventurers, each with a defined combat style and background, and progression sounds traditional in a good way. You level for skills and perks, and you improve your loadout at a Forge, which suggests a loop of incremental power that is still constrained by tactical execution.
The campaign is described as four themed chapters broken into self contained missions, built to land as one night sessions, alongside a target of 20 large dungeons with unique environments, fully voiced storylines, and dialogues that adapt based on who you brought.

Solo play is supported, and online co op scales up to four players, with the option for friends to join mid-dungeon, plus full controller support. For sure, a game to follow when it launches sometime in 2026. Below the announcement trailer.
