November isn’t just about zombies, vampires, and fantasy creatures—this month is also stacked with some seriously exciting RPG and strategy game releases. Here’s our monthly roundup of the most anticipated titles dropping this month. I’ll dive into the ones that look most promising, and, as always, you’ll find a full list at the end.
November kicks off strong: after all the Halloween candy and chocolate, we’re in for three big, highly anticipated titles right at the start. First up is Lost Eidolons: Veil of the Witch, a roguelite spinoff of the SRPG Lost Eidolons, which originally launched in 2022. I’ve had a chance to dive into it while prepping a video for my channel, and let me tell you, it’s already shaping up to be incredibly fun. I’ll have more in-depth thoughts once it hits Early Access on November 5th on PC, PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo Switch.
On the same day, we finally get Metal Slug Tactics, a tactical spin on the beloved ’90s platformer that ruled arcades. I tried the demo a while back, and it has all the ingredients for a compelling tactics experience—classic Metal Slug aesthetics blended with strategic depth that looks ready to captivate both fans of the original and newcomers alike. On PC and Consoles.
Then, on November 7th, Nintendo Switch players get a treat with Mario & Luigi: Brothership, marking the return of gaming’s most iconic duo series, which has been absent from the RPG scene since 2015. This new installment takes Mario and Luigi to the high seas in a fresh world called Concordia. Expect the series’ trademark turn-based RPG mechanics, with the unique Bros. Moves and Bros. Attacks that set Mario & Luigi games apart. I’ve finally got my own Switch, so there’s no way I’m missing out on this one!?
I know I tend to overlook strategy games a bit (and yes, that probably won’t change), but this month, there’s one I can’t ignore: ZEPHON. Developed by the team behind Warhammer 40K: Gladius, ZEPHON is a futuristic 4X strategy game that puts you in a brutal, post-apocalyptic world that’s far from friendly—unless you’re comfortable with Eldritch horrors, alien invaders, and mutant wildlife lurking around every corner. You leads one of humanity’s last surviving factions, engaging in all the classic 4X elements: conquering key points, advancing tech, and making pivotal decisions that shape the fate of their faction. Mark your calendar for November 8, 2024!
If you’re a fan of heist movies like Ocean’s Eleven or Mission Impossible, HeistGeist might be right up your alley. This narrative-driven RPG follows the adventures of Alexandra, a skilled thief planning elaborate heists. Although it’s a deckbuilder, it breaks away from the usual roguelite mold by adding a fully developed storyline, choice-driven gameplay, and a combat system centered around hacking. It’s set to debut on PC on November 11, but if you’re eager, the demo is available now to try out.
Another highly intriguing strategy RPG often confused with Songs of Conquest (also launching on PlayStation and Xbox on November 13) is Songs of Silence. With its distinct visual style, Songs of Silence offers turn-based map exploration, complete with points of interest to capture and multiple heroes to manage. The combat system is partially automated, putting players in control of summoning creatures onto the battlefield and timing the use of each unit’s special abilities. Songs of Silence was already accessible in early access, but on November 12, it will officially launch its 1.0 version on PC, PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch.
Then, on November 14, we have both a promising RPG and the return of a “legendary” classic. The RPG in question is Flint: Treasure of the Oblivion, a story-driven, pirate-themed adventure where players step into the boots of Flint, a pirate crafted from classic literature. You’ll encounter a full cast of characters from Flint’s world, with a setting that feels painstakingly recreated from the novels. The gameplay features a hex-grid combat system with dice rolls determining combat outcomes, and player choices will drive the story’s progression. This one definitely makes me curious to see how it all unfolds on PC, PlayStation, Switch, and Xbox.
And now for the legendary classic—Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake. This reimagining of the 1988 classic brings it to life with the stunning HD-2D style made famous by Octopath Traveler. But this remake isn’t just a visual overhaul; it introduces new quests, enhanced class systems, and even a new “vocation” class that lets you absorb abilities from the monsters they encounter. It’s coming to PC, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation, and Xbox, promising a nostalgic yet refreshed journey for long-time fans and newcomers alike.
Of course, November wouldn’t be complete without a few new deckbuilders. Dimensionals lands on November 18, bringing a vibrant, cartoon-inspired deckbuilding experience where players lead a team of heroes, each with unique skills. Combining abilities and chaining powerful combos is the name of the game as you face off against giant enemies and bosses. With its colorful graphics and combo-heavy gameplay, Dimensionals is shaping up to be a blast in early access on PC.
And there’s more for deckbuilder fans! Toads of the Bayou arrives on November 19, blending tactical roguelite action with a swampy, undead twist. You command a team of battle-ready frogs, defending their home from the undead army of Baron Samedi. It’s not just tactical grid-based combat—you’ll also be managing resources and upgrading your HQ (or “pond”), which strengthens your frogs’ stats and abilities. The game’s art style is charming, and the combat system features some innovative mechanics, making this one worth keeping an eye on.
Deck-based gameplay, even for Demiurges, brings a unique twist. Launching in Early Access on November 20 for PC, this strategy game has clear Heroes of Might and Magic vibes, with card mechanics to help manage city-building. Outside of that, it’s a classic fantasy strategy title featuring distinct factions, each with its own tactical units and abilities. And if you’re into retro graphics, you’ll feel right at home here!
Rounding out November is Neon Blood, a compelling cyberpunk RPG set in a high-quality pixel-art world. Playing as detective Axel McCoin, you’ll explore the city of Viridis to uncover a web of corruption. Leveraging detective skills, you’ll find clues in stylish 2.5D environments and gather evidence through dialogue-driven interactions. Combat follows classic JRPG mechanics, with allies joining your team and various abilities to use strategically. Neon Blood will be released on November 26 for PC and all major next-gen consoles.
Lastly, there are several indie releases that shouldn’t be overlooked. The Adventurers, inspired by Dungeons & Dragons, launches in Early Access, while Depths of Faveg delivers classic exploration and combat for first-person dungeon-crawling fans. Finally, Seer’s Gambit is an auto battler that caught my eye with its pixelated charm—there’s truly something for everyone this month.
