It’s already April, which means 2026 is already one-fourth over! I’m here today working for you, creating a monthly release schedule as solid an estimate as possible (there are bound to be more titles released this month). We’ll catch those additional releases in the weekend update posts.
We have a lot of very good indie games, and some larger JRPG. Get comfy, click through and give your feedback at my Reddit Channel.
Spark Ignites
- Developer: Ignicorvus Studio
- Release Date: 1 April 2026 (Early Access)
- Platform: Windows
- Steam Page

JRPGs aren’t usually the kind of game to go into Early Access, but indie project Spark Ignites is taking a neat approach to make it work.
The main story is fully playable, with fleshed-out stories, new regions, and new systems being added throughout the Early Access period. Given that this tale of uncovering the secrets of the gods leans heavily on choices and a robust battle system, it could offer plenty of reasons to keep coming back in the lead-up to launch.
Spark Ignites‘ combat is designed to be deep and challenging. From action order to unique character abilities, you can’t afford to discount anything if you want to win the toughest boss battles. If it gets even more complex as the game develops, so much the better.
Xenonauts 2
- Developer: Goldhawk Interactive
- Release Date: 2 April, 2026
- Platform: Windows
- Steam Page

Alternate-history XCOM-like Xenonauts has had a sequel in the works for a while, and Xenonauts 2 is finally leaving Early Access this month. This time, you’ll be fighting off an alien invasion in a 2009 where the Cold War is still going and a secret conspiracy threatens to turn the globe over to the extraterrestrial menace.
As you might expect, you’ll have to choose your battles carefully and be ready to sacrifice troops for the greater good to have any hope of victory. If you’ve been longing for XCOM 3, Xenonauts 2 will certainly scratch that itch.
Granser – Act 1
- Developer: Steve Gal
- Release Date: 3 April, 2026
- Platform: Windows
- Steam Page

Granser is a JRPG that feels a bit like a sandbox thanks to its living overworld. Trade, airship travel, and even the weather are all accounted for as you travel the anime-fantasy world, making you feel like you’re part of the setting.
Throw in a compelling story, smart turn-based combat, and even real-time airship battles, and Granser is certainly a project that deserves some attention.
Despite its name, Granser – Act 1 has thirteen chapters plus side quests, so there’s plenty to do. We’ll be curious to see how the larger saga plays out in the coming years!
EvoCreo 2
- Developer: Ilmfinity Studios
- Release Date: 6 April, 2026
- Platform: Windows, Mac, Linux, Android
- Steam Page

EvoCreo is a throwback to classic Pokemon, and the sequel offers even more gameplay with over 300 monsters to discover and train – almost twice the roster of the original! There’s loads of customization as well, from traits and equipment to a massive move list and even multiple color palettes for each Creo.
EvoCreo 2 launched for mobile last year, and it’s coming to Steam this month so you can join the adventure on your machine of choice.
People of Note
- Developer: Iridium Studios
- Release Date: 7 April, 2026
- Platform: Windows, PlayStation, Xbox, Switch
- Steam Page

Music is a key component of any good RPG, and People of Note puts it front and center. Not only will you visit music-themed fantasy worlds as you join Cadence on her quest for stardom, but battles change and adapt their music as each band member takes the spotlight.
People of Note has a fully-customizable experience built with accessibility in mind. That’s a good thing, because given how cool this RPG looks, we wouldn’t want anybody to have to miss out on it.
Fight Life: Vanguard
- Developer: StartImpulse, Two Cakes Studio
- Release Date: 10 April, 2026
- Platform: Windows, PlayStation
- Steam Page

The eye-catching pixel graphics and hex-grid environments in Fight Life: Vanguard should be enough to get the attention of any strategy fan, but once you dig deeper there’s even more to love.
As a mercenary commander accompanied by a fallen god, you’ll lead a squad of raw recruits and (hopefully) forge them into heroes worthy of saving the world before it falls to darkness.
Fight Life: Vanguard boasts handcrafted scenarios with tight quarters, ensuring that every move on the battlefield counts and every decision between fights matters. Check out the demo, then be ready to dive in when the game launches on 10 April.
Full Metal Sergeant 2
- Developer: CarloC
- Release Date: 13 April, 2026
- Platform: Windows
- Steam Page

In Full Metal Sergeant 2, your job is to build a boot camp capable of training the toughest soldiers the world has ever seen.
You have twelve weeks to get your recruits ready, specializing them into classes and getting rid of their weaknesses, because after that, it’s straight to the front lines, where you’ll have to command the troops you just trained in turn-based permadeath battles.
Like its movie namesake, Full Metal Sergeant 2 seems like two different games in one. Might you be a brilliant drill sergeant or a great field commander… but can you be both?
Dosa Divas
- Developer: Outerloop Games
- Release Date: 14 April, 2026
- Platform: Windows, PlayStation, Xbox, Switch
- Steam Page

Turn-based battles, family recipes, and fighting evil corporations – Dosa Divas really does have it all!
In this RPG, you’ll play as two sisters and their mechanized food truck, delivering fresh meals to hungry communities. It’s a game with plenty of heart and a dash of your own creativity as you source ingredients to make the perfect meal while battling corporate goons.
If you’re not convinced, give the Dosa Divas demo a try – it’s deliciously infectious, and we think it will have you asking for seconds by the time the 14 April release date rolls around.
Smash it Wild: Tactical Volleyball Roguelike
- Developer: Goblinz Studio, Ernestine
- Release Date: 16 April, 2026
- Platform: Windows
- Steam Page

I’d never considered volleyball a tactical game, but now that I’ve seen Smash It Wild I realize that was a failure of imagination on my part. Each run is a single-elimination tournament; one loss, and it’s back to the beginning.
To take the cup, you’ll need to upgrade your team and be ready to serve up your best possible combos.
It’s great to see new ideas being brought to a genre as packed as roguelikes, so hopefully we’ll continue to see more creative games like Smash It Wild in the future.
Cosmos Point
- Developer: Anatoliy Sidorov
- Release Date: 21 April, 2026
- Platform: Windows
- Steam Page

The mission in Cosmos Point is simple – get in, get whatever you can carry to improve your base, and get out, ideally without being torn to shreds by whatever hazards are aboard the derelict space station you’re currently on.
If the environmental hazards and deadly foes weren’t enough to contend with, each of your troops only has a limited amount of backpack space, so you really have to decide what’s important to escape with… especially if soldiers die, reducing your carrying capacity further.
If you like tough gameplay decisions and tougher battles, Cosmos Point could be a great indie find for you this April. The demo is already available, and the game launches on the 21st.
Vultures – Scavengers of Death – April 28
- Developer: Team Vultures
- Release Date: April, 2026
- Platform: Windows
- Steam Page

Vultures is a tactical homage to the classics of survival horror; if XCOM and the original Resident Evil were thrown into a blender, this is the game that would pour out. It really does a great job of capturing the look and feel of the PS1 era as well, adding a heavy dose of nostalgia to its blood-soaked battles.
If you have fond memories of restless dreams and being the Master of Unlocking, you won’t want to miss this turn-based tribute. Vultures: Scavengers of Death launches on the 28th of April, but the demo is available now on Steam.
Magin: The Rat Project Stories – April 29
- Developer: The Rat Project
- Release Date: 29 April, 2026
- Platform: Windows
- Steam Page

In the world of Magin, magic is derived from the fears and desires of the wielder. This means that your decisions and conversations will affect your Essence, impacting the game mechanically.
You’ll also have card-based battles to contend with as you seek redemption in Magin‘s gritty fantasy world.
Magin‘s demo is available for free, giving you plenty of time to check it out before the full game launches at the end of the month. If you like the look and vibe of Darkest Dungeon but are looking for something more character- and story-driven, this could be a good choice.
