The acclaimed soulslike deck-builder is coming to PS5, Switch, and Xbox Series X|S.
One of the most intriguing RPGs to come out last year is finally making its way to consoles. I’m talking about Death Howl, which is set to reach consoles on February 19, 2026, with dev The Outer Zone and publisher 11 bit studios marking the run-up with a second accolade trailer focused on recent review scores and pull quotes that I shared at the end of the article.

The game that we reviewed here is already out on PC, where it launched on December 9, 2025. It is available on Steam and GOG, and it has been part of the Game Pass lineup on PC. The console release targets PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox Series X|S, with the PlayStation Store listing the same February 19, 2026 date.
Death Howl frames its deck-building around a grieving mother named Ro, pushing into a spirit realm in a bid to reunite with her son, Olvi.
The Outer Zone is a three-person team based in Copenhagen, and that small scope shows up in how tightly the game focuses on one character and one emotional through line. Mechanically, it mixes turn-driven, grid-based fights with exploration across an open world broken into multiple realms and regions.

Ro builds decks from more than 160 cards, with card themes that include things like poison, blocking, sacrifice, retaliation, and movement, plus shamanic totems that modify runs and combat plans.
The soulslike label here is about the fact that enemies have patterns to learn, and the loop treats failure as part of progression.
Rest points refresh Ro while repopulating threats, which turns recovery into a real routing decision when you are deep in hostile territory. Regions adds new enemy types, new cards, and new ability hooks that can force deck pivots mid-run.
Death Howl is currently sitting at a Very Positive user rating on Steam, which helps explain why 11 bit studios is leaning on accolade trailers ahead of the console push.
The game’s development was supported through the Danish Film Institute’s The Games Scheme, and the February 19 launch should put the same grid combat and deck construction loop in front of a wider console audience. Below is the Console Trailer.
