Red Hook Studios continues to build momentum for Darkest Dungeon II with the launch of Secrets of the Coven, the second free module in the game’s Kingdoms expansion. Available today for PC and Mac via Steam, this substantial update introduces a wealth of new content, gameplay enhancements, and long-requested community features — with a console release planned soon after.
In Secrets of the Coven, players will face a chilling new threat: a secretive witch cult determined to undermine the Kingdom. The module adds a fresh Kingdoms questline, a sinister new enemy faction, new items, mechanics like inn storage, and the ability to sell items — responding to key player feedback since the mode’s debut.
To celebrate the launch, Darkest Dungeon II is discounted by 50% on Steam until April 21st, while its DLCs — The Binding Blade and Inhuman Bondage — are also on sale.
“Secrets of the Coven is strikingly different from Hunger of the Beast Clan,” said Chris Bourassa, Creative Director at Red Hook Studios. “The pacing, mechanics, and overall experience have a distinct identity. We’ve pushed into new territory with this module, and we can’t wait to see how players respond.“
Kingdoms Mode: A New Chapter for Darkest Dungeon II
Released in January 2025, Kingdoms reimagines Darkest Dungeon II‘s structure, tasking players not just with survival, but with defending the realm’s network of inns against monstrous threats. Unlike the original Confessions mode, each Kingdoms module offers a different flavor of challenge, with Secrets of the Coven bringing a much darker, more insidious atmosphere compared to the primal chaos of the Beastmen.
One more adventure module is expected later this year, rounding out the Kingdoms experience.
About Darkest Dungeon II
Darkest Dungeon II is a rogue-lite turn-based “road trip of the damned,” challenging players to lead a desperate caravan across a crumbling world born from human failures. Featuring 14 heroes, a revamped turn-based combat system, and a rich metagame at the Altar of Hope, the game builds on the grim, psychological storytelling that made the original Darkest Dungeon a cult favorite.
Since its early access launch in 2021 and full release in 2024, Darkest Dungeon II has continued to grow, fueled by regular updates and strong community engagement.
Darkest Dungeon II and its DLCs are available on Steam, Epic Games Store, and GOG for PC and Mac, as well as on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox Series X|S. Inhuman Bondage will launch for Xbox Series X|S on April 17th.
