Heroes of Science and Fiction Overview

Oxymoron Games is bringing its turn-based Heroes of Might and Magic-style strategy game, Heroes of Science and Fiction, to version 1.0 on March 17, 2026.

Heroes of Science and Fiction

The game has been in Steam Early Access since September 30, 2024, and the studio is framing this release as the point where the project gets its full feature set, including online multiplayer and the last story campaign.

Heroes of Science and Fiction dropped the old Silence of the Siren name along the way, but the pitch stayed consistent.

It is a sci-fi spin on the classic loop where heroes roam an overworld, grab resources, and build up a base economy that feeds into army growth and tactical fights. On the exploration layer, players move across planets to secure resources and upgrade bases, then deploy those armies into turn-based battles where unit abilities and commander skills determine the tempo.

Early Access already looks like a complete sandbox listing five playable factions, three campaigns that each run four levels, and over twenty skirmish maps.

Each faction comes with its own base and seven upgradeable unit types, plus a faction special and a roster of commanders with twenty-four skills, fifty-four active commander abilities, and a layer of equipment, consumables, and artifacts.

The 1.0 upgrade is set to focus on the things that tend to decide whether a Heroes style game becomes a long term hangout.

Oxymoron says it is finishing and polishing online multiplayer, the final campaign, achievements, AI improvements, and a new planet that comes with fresh skirmish maps. It also mentions more items and new buildings on the exploration map.

Multiplayer is the headline for a lot of genre fans, and the studio has been unusually specific about how it plans to ship it.

In a January developer diary, Oxymoron described online peer-to-peer multiplayer that runs through Steam, with no separate servers players need to connect to, and it noted that it is not being designed as a strict two-player mode.

Heroes of Science and Fiction is set to arrive in its full form on March 17, 2026, on PC via Steam.
