Songs Of Conquest Review

Songs of Conquest is gearing up for a packed 2026 on PC, with Lavapotion laying out a new roadmap that locks in two story-focused DLCs and a full faction pack while keeping console timing deliberately open.

Songs of Conquest Roadmap

The studio stresses that this roadmap only covers the PC version for now. Console patches and the long-awaited Switch release are still in the works, but they’re holding back dates until they’re confident they can hit them.

At the heart of the roadmap is a new “Tales” label for story-driven content. Songs of Conquest has always leaned hard on campaign play alongside its skirmish and multiplayer modes, with players leading powerful Wielders in a Heroes of Might & Magic–style mix of exploration, town-building, and tactical battles across pixel-art maps.

The Tales branding is meant to gather these narrative maps in a clearer way, backed by UI and menu improvements so campaign enjoyers can actually find them without digging through several layers of lists.

The first stop is December 7 with Mehry’s Tale, arriving as a free update on PC. Lavapotion has mentioned before that a “Mehry Tale” would land ahead of the paid DLCs, and that’s now finally coming into focus.

New Campaign

This release consists of two connected missions built around Mehry’s escape, picking up loose threads from earlier campaign events: what happened after Bhigli’s actions around the beacons, and where Mehry ended up after her defeat and capture at the hands of the Unseen Society’s rat-obsessed researcher.

Alongside the missions themselves, the update will refresh campaign presentation and menus to make the growing library of stories easier to browse.

In early spring 2026, the long-delayed Rise Eternal DLC is finally back on the calendar. Rise Eternal is a paid expansion that turns the spotlight on the undead Barony of Loth and introduces a new Wielder, Kastus Maal.

This DLC lets players embrace the darkness, raise the dead, and crush the Stouthearts, with the Loth scholars treating death as a starting point rather than an ending. In practical terms, the DLC brings four linked missions, new map entities, fresh artifacts, and mechanical additions tied to Loth’s Risen mechanic, which has been flagged before as something the team wanted to revisit. Kastus will also get a dedicated deep-dive later on, where Lavapotion plans to unpack his story and role in the wider lore.

The roadmap doesn’t stop at narrative DLC. Work is already “at full speed” on the next faction, Yulan, which is planned as another major DLC for 2026 after Rise Eternal.

Yulan Troop

Previous communication from the team listed Yulan as the third step in the current content line-up, following the Mehry Tale and Rise Eternal. Yulan has been teased on social channels with silhouettes and partial unit reveals.

The latest update confirms that animation work is underway. Units are now “coming alive” at the art desk. Given how much effort went into Vanir and Roots, the prior faction DLCs that expanded the roster beyond the four base-game factions, expectations are high for how distinct Yulan will feel in both visuals and playstyle.

Lavapotion closes the update by promising more focused posts as development continues, with dedicated news for both Rise Eternal and the new faction once they’re closer.

They also slip in a thank-you for the wishlists on their “palette-cleanser” side project Wielders of the Essence, a lighter spin-off that a smaller part of the team is handling while the main group stays on Songs of Conquest’s roadmap.

For players on PC, 2026 is shaping up to be a story-heavy year for Songs of Conquest: a free two-mission Tale to revisit old campaign threads, a four-mission undead DLC built around Kastus Maal, and an entire new faction waiting in the wings.

Console Wielders will have to wait a bit longer for precise timing, but the framework for where the game is headed is now very clear.
