It’s been quite a while since I last checked in on this promising project, which is currently in Early Access. The game is called Glorious Companions, a tactical strategy RPG in the style of Battle Brothers, developed by the team at Ancient Forge. It’s been in Early Access since 2019, and since then, the game has made significant strides. They’re now gearing up for New Era, a revamped version introducing a lot of stuff ready to be released in December 2024.
In the meantime, there have been numerous updates, many of which can be tested in the demo. These include the full prologue, complete with cutscenes and voice-overs, a redesigned world map, and new combat maps. Plus, there are plenty of new points of interest and quality-of-life improvements. Right now, Glorious Companions definitely deserves a try.
If you’re a fan of tactical RPGs like Battle Brothers or Mount & Blade, this game is shaping up to be worth your attention, especially with all the recent updates that polish the experience.

Glorious Companions is a tactical RPG that mixes turn-based combat with RPG mechanics in a richly crafted, procedurally generated world. Whether leading the disciplined Valrenay or the fierce, lizard-like Scarres, your goal is to recruit and manage a team of skilled companions, navigate political tensions, and battle through challenging encounters to collect vault crystals and ultimately stop the looming threat of Xandar’s Wrath.
The game offers both single-player and multiplayer modes, including online and local PvP, with customization options for units and plenty of gear choices. Two distinct factions with unique abilities provide different playstyles, and players will explore dungeons, take on difficult bosses, and shape the future of the continent with their choices.
