Fight monsters, break down doors with your cards, and explore a procedurally generated dungeon alone or with a friend.
If you’re a fan of first-person dungeon crawlers like I am, the end of October might hold a pleasant surprise: Into the Crypt is finally launching in its full version.
The game takes the familiar deck-building formula into a hand-painted 3D dungeon, where players explore corridors, choose which rooms to enter, and face enemies in turn-based card battles. One of its more interesting mechanics is how cards interact with the environment. Attack cards can be used to break open locked doors, but doing so wears them down. This creates an interesting decision between preserving your combat options and spending resources to reach potentially valuable rewards. Crypt Keys provide another way to open sealed doors and access treasures.

Each descent takes players through three procedurally generated Depths, with branching paths leading to regular battles, elite encounters, shops, altars, treasure rooms, and bosses. More than 75 story events feature unusual characters, risky bargains, and opportunities to change a run’s direction. Three heroes are available, each introducing a different approach to deckbuilding.
The developers promise an extensive collection of cards, plus 185 artifacts and 105 potions that can create different combinations and synergies. The crypt also contains more than 135 creatures, including ten bosses spread across its three Depths. Some bosses and elite enemies can transform during combat, forcing players to adjust their strategies as encounters develop.

Those who prefer company can tackle the crypt in two-player online co-op. Both players follow the same route but maintain separate heroes and decks, allowing them to coordinate abilities and experiment with different class combinations. Progression continues between runs through the Crypt Mastery system, which unlocks additional cards, alternate starting options, special challenges, and hidden vaults.
Into the Crypt arrives on Steam for PC on October 29, 2026, with a free playable demo already available for anyone interested in trying its unusual approach to dungeon crawling and deckbuilding. Below, I share the official launch trailer.
