Wandering Sword PC

Wandering Sword is undoubtedly one of the most exciting RPGs currently in development at The Swordman Studio and published by Spiral Up Games for the PC audience. The game has a 2023 release window; meanwhile, devs just shared some cool details regarding the Martial Arts Sect present in the final game. The spotlight is now on the game’s rich diversity of martial arts sects, each with its unique history and fighting techniques.

Wandering Sword

First on the list is the tranquil and prestigious Wudang Sect. Nestled amidst serene mountain peaks, this sect presents an interesting blend of Tai Chi and Yin Yang principles in their martial arts, melding an aura of tranquility with strength. Wudang’s signature swordplay techniques strike an elegant balance between grace and power, promising a thrilling experience for players looking to climb its ranks.

The historical Shaolin Monastery, another fascinating entity within Wandering Sword, carries a profound history that spans a thousand years. Known as the leading institution of orthodox martial arts schools, Shaolin has solidified its place as the martial arts “North Star”. The sect offers potent hand-to-hand combat and polearm techniques, a solid foundation for any player seeking to harness the strength of a thousand-year-old lineage.

Next, the spotlight moves to the infamous Xuanhuo Cult. This enigmatic sect, notorious for its unrivaled sabreplay techniques and unconventional practices, has earned the somewhat dubious distinction of a “demonic sect”. Yet, this controversial reputation promises a compelling and challenging path for those who aren’t afraid to diverge from tradition.

Finally, the legendary Mingjian Manor takes center stage. Celebrated for their unparalleled swordsmanship and legendary sword forging techniques, this sect is the birthplace of every legendary sword weapon in Wandering Sword. Possessing a sword from Mingjian Manor paves the way for players to master the revered techniques that have made the sect a cornerstone in the art of swordplay.

These four sects are just a fraction of the diverse martial arts sects within Wandering Sword. Each sect offers its own martial arts technique, captivating storyline, and intriguing interactions. Players will not only engage with these sects but also have the opportunity to master their unique weapons and skills.

Below is an overview of the game via Steam.

ABOUT THIS GAME

The game is developed in Unreal Engine and uses beautiful pixel art to showcase an open world with bustling ancient Chinese towns, scenic mountains, picturesque rivers, dangerous lairs, treacherous terrains and more.

As you explore the lands, you will discover hundreds of martial arts forms and weapons to master and wield. You will learn how to cultivate your energy through meridian points and become an expert of both the external and internal forms to gain true mastery of martial prowess.

Combat is conducted on a tiled board and a unique point is that it allows gamers to switch between turn-based mode or real-time mode during combat. The turn-based mode will suit gamers who prefer the traditional way of playing slower paced RPGs while the real-time mode will appeal to players who like to think on their feet and dish out attacks as quickly as their fingers can move.

In Wandering Sword, you can build relationships with NPCs through interacting with them. You can even recruit some of them to join your adventures and share their martial arts and weapons with you. Who knows, you may even fall in love!

Wandering Sword offers great replayability. Different choices you make will lead to different endings for the game. There are also a great number of side quests you can opt to take on besides the main quest, which will provide many hours of adventure time.
