Yokai Tales by VP Games is a roguelite JRPG that draws from Japanese folklore to deliver a journey through a land overtaken by corruption. You’ll guide a trio of tanuki brothers as they battle back against a spreading force known as the Void, which is twisting friendly spirits into dangerous foes.

The game combines colorful hand-drawn aesthetics with retro-inspired, turn-based combat, where elemental matchups and status effects play a central role in each encounter.

Progression unfolds across randomized runs, with each attempt offering new challenges, yokai transformations, and class combinations to experiment with. You’re unlocking new abilities, facing off against unpredictable bosses, and shaping your party through the ever-shifting roster of allies with a blend of old-school JRPGs and modern roguelite structure.
