Starfinder Afterlight

A five-minute teaser highlights exploration, party dialogue, skill checks, and turn based fights built on Starfinder 2e rules.

Epictellers Entertainment has released the first public gameplay video for Starfinder: Afterlight, one of the most anticipated RPGs for me, shown during the New Game Plus Showcase.

The clip runs about five minutes and comes with developer commentary, then moves between dialogue scenes, skill checks, and turn-based combat. Epictellers says the first public demo is planned for later in 2026.

Starfinder: Afterlight CRPG

The teaser is framed as a quick look at the game’s exploration and combat flow. The upcoming demo will let players try those systems directly, and it will include brand new early game content built for the demo, while the footage shows some exploration plus a short combat showcase.

Starfinder: Afterlight is a single-player, party-based CRPG set in Paizo’s Starfinder universe, with a PC release planned via Steam. Steam currently lists the release date as to be announced, while multiple outlets continue to point to a Steam Early Access release in 2026.

Dialogues

The game is built around a turn-based tactical combat system on Starfinder Second Edition rules. Using Paizo’s three-action system for each turn, with actions feeding movement, attacks, abilities, plus whatever your build can bend the rules toward.

Class lineup includes Soldier, Envoy, Operative, Mystic, Solarian, and Witchwarper, with leveling and alien gear progression called out as core hooks.

The story revolves around a missing captain and a looming galaxy-scale threat, with the party pulled together from across the Pact Worlds with six companions to recruit, each with personal story beats plus moral dilemmas that can branch depending on how you handle key moments.

Factions track what you do, companions react to decisions, and the narrative can split into hundreds of paths.

Epictellers’ own Campaign Recap gives a clearer picture of what expanded after crowdfunding. The studio says the Kickstarter wrapped successfully on November 6, 2025, was funded in 80 minutes, and drew over 14,000 backers, which it calls the most backed video game Kickstarter campaign of 2025.

The recap also lists content unlocked for backers, including additional ancestries like Skittermanders, Pahtras, and Vlaka, plus extra classes with Technomancer and Mechanic. It also confirms a full voice-over plan, described as fully voiced dialogue across the main story, side quests, NPCs, and companion banter.

That voice work is already part of how Epictellers is selling the project, and the new gameplay tease is timed alongside more casting talk. Recap lists Roger Clark as the narrator, Neil Newbon as Preach, plus Fred Tatasciore as Kole, Inel Tomlinson as Tycho, Melissa Medína as LU 323, James Alexander as Sterling, and Carolina Ravassa as Captain Khali.

The gameplay teaser is out, and I shared it below. The public demo is planned for later in 2026, and Steam Early Access is still the stated target for 2026.
