The headline feature is a complete overhaul of multiplayer. There are now two new lobby types, live and asynchronous, letting you play in real time or at your own pace. You can also add AI opponents, chat during matches, and enjoy smoother sync thanks to technical upgrades to the game’s network code.
But that’s not all. The update adds new buildings like the Barracks and Corn Silo, and rebalances existing ones like the Watchtower and Embassy. Late-game players now have access to powerful National Wonders, including structures like the Royal Science Institute and Woolmill, which introduce unique bonuses tied to your economic and strategic choices.
There are also meaningful tweaks to unit skills, building costs, exploration mechanics, and veteran progression, especially for naval and support units. And if you’re the kind of player who enjoys chasing milestones, completing all policy tracks now earns you a Crown.
