I first gave this tactical RPG a not-so-official shout-out a few weeks ago. It’s Ex Sanguis, the new title from Lightbulb Crew, the studio behind Othercide, and today they dropped a fresh teaser trailer ahead of Tacticon 2025, where you’ll even be able to go hands-on with this equally stylish and promising RPG.

Ex Sanguis crashes into the all-digital Tacticon 2025 showcase, live on Steam from 17 to 21 July. Lightbulb Crew’s crimson-drenched tactics roguelite joins the line-up with a fresh teaser trailer and a limited play-any-time public test so you can judge the blood-soaked battlefields for yourself.

By requesting access to the Steam playtest, you step straight into a procedural campaign where every node lets you sprint for a boss or slow down to harvest resources and upgrades.

The build on show mirrors what you see in the new minute-long teaser: stark black-and-white arenas slashed by vivid reds, timeline manipulation (as it happens in Othercide) that lets you shove enemy turns up or down the queue, and explosive scenery that rewards precise positioning.

Veterans of Othercide will find familiar tactical DNA, yet you direct the pace of each run and preserve some progress even in defeat, anchoring a roguelite loop built for repeat assaults.

Knock-backs, flanking bonuses, and lingering damage round out a tool-kit designed to make every drop of blood matter.

Today’s build is PC-only, but Lightbulb Crew confirms that Early Access on Steam will precede a full console roll-out at a later date.

Our Tacticon build brings us back to the epic turn-based combat of Othercide while layering in new mechanics and a reworked progression system. We can’t wait to hear your reactions,” studio CEO Anders Larsson said.

If you want to weigh in, hit “Request Access” on the Steam page, then join the official Discord to swap tactics with other testers. The blood is already flowing; now the question is how cleverly you will spill it. You can find more details about the game and the teaser trailer below.

About The Game

From the creators of Othercide, Ex Sanguis delivers what the studio is known for: dynamic & epic turn-based combat in a visually striking world. Bleed the world to life; fight the agents of perfection and stillness through strategic blood baths in this evolved roguelite tactical RPG game!

In a world drained by the Purge, blood is defiance. Each drop of it paints the world in reds and blacks, as a reminder that life fights back. This is not just violence, it’s a vivid rebellion in a pale, colorless world.

Key Features

  • Unique Visuals – Contrasting black & white surroundings are your tapestry as you use your blood-infused powers and slash open your enemies.
  • Use timeline effects – Speed up, delay or swap time position to impact turn order and outsmart your enemies.
  • Play with your surroundings – Use objects around you, explode them, ignite enemies, or block their line of sight. Making clever choices dramatically changes the outcome of each battle.
  • Leverage physical effects – Use knock-backs, forced facings, flanking bonuses, and damage-over-time to dominate every encounter.
  • Choose your own path – Pick your own difficulty through the map. Take on high-risk, high-reward missions, head straight for boss encounters, or slow down to gather resources to increase your chance of success.
  • A Roguelite loop adapted to turn-based combat – Breeze through the procedural levels to beat unique bosses and understand the world in Stasia. Even if you fail a mission, some progress is retained, opening new opportunities in subsequent runs.
