New Turn-Based RPGs Released - August 23 2025

Here are all the latest releases in RPGs, strategy titles, and everything in between, strictly turn-based.

This week didn’t seem all that busy at first, but there’s actually a lot of new stuff to check out. Many are demos, sure, but hey, plenty of games to sink your teeth into is never a bad thing.

Of course, the week was dominated by Gamescom 2025. Even if it’s lost a bit of its exclusivity thanks to so many events being spread out across the year, it’s still the industry’s flagship showcase. I’ve put together a recap that should be useful if you want a quick look at the biggest reveals relevant to our corner of gaming.

As for the release list below, roguelites are stealing the spotlight in just about every flavor imaginable. Still, there are also several solid strategy titles, the demo of a remaster of one of the greatest JRPGs ever, and much more.

So, enjoy the read, and hopefully you’ll find something new worth trying out.

Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter Demo

  • Release date: 21 August 2025
  • Platforms: PC

New players and long-time fans can now dive into the Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter remake through a free prologue demo. It lets you step into the world of Liberl, guiding Estelle, Joshua, and Scherazard through the region of Rolent, with the option to carry your demo progress over to the full release.

This demo spans a substantial chunk of the opening, three to seven hours of gameplay, handily covering the first four dungeons, seven main events, and eight optional subquests.

Early impressions have been glowing, with many calling the demo a certified banger, particularly praising its visual polish, localization, and smooth performance.

Lighting torches gradually reveals the map, and traps along with secrets keep exploration tense and rewarding.
