You can now add Master of Piece to your Steam wishlist and watch its first full trailer (at the bottom of the article), as independent South-Korean studio I M Game opens the game’s official Steam page and it’s preparing for a prologue which will debut on August.
However, I’d like to provide you with some details about the game and what the prologue will entail.

The tactical deck-building roguelite, influenced by classic board games, invites you to assemble squads of mercenaries whose traits interlock into ever-shifting battlefield synergies.
You orchestrate a living roster of over 140 mercenaries whose individual traits can be enhanced, swapped, or fused to forge synergies that shift from run to run.
Each expedition begins with a single-row battlefield where you deploy one unit per round; once combat starts, actions resolve in speed order, so your placement and trait combos decide whether a marksman finishes off a foe before their bomber unleashes an area attack.

Your party grows through branching, procedurally generated paths threaded with two core encounter types. Building events operate like strategic pit-stops: inns let you heal or dismiss veterans, forges bolt new traits onto favourite units, and temples fuse duplicates into elite forms.
Card events, more than 400 in total, play out as interactive vignettes with choices and consequences that can bless you with relics, saddle you with curses, or alter the world state for the next region.
Relics function as expedition-wide rule-breakers. One might refund the energy cost of your fastest mercenary each round, another could copy an ally’s trait at the start of battle, while the newly introduced trait-upgrade system lets you sink XP into a favoured ability so it scales across the campaign.

Parallel to that, a commander-level progression tree unlocks fresh mercenaries, relic tiers, and cosmetic loadout slots, encouraging you to iterate on builds between runs.
The August Prologue adds the Blazing Sands region, whose scorpion riders and sand-golem bosses force heat-management tactics, plus a revamped lobby that previews your planned route and lets you save custom mercenary presets, ideal if you want to reopen with your poison-stacking trio or early-game tank rush already configured.
These quality-of-life touches stem directly from feedback gathered during March’s 10,000-download demo and will continue to evolve before Early Access arrives in November.

While the narrative remains light, every expedition feeds into the mystery of the Dragon Orb and the dark mist blanketing the world.
Outlaws, fanatics, and cultists occupy its five biomes, each capped by multi-phase bosses whose behaviour shifts once their armour breaks, inviting you to adapt decks on the fly.
Wishlist access is live on Steam today, and if you attend Gamescom, you can test-drive the Prologue in Hall 10.2, Booth F010g – E019g. You will get hands-on well before launch: Master of Piece – Prologue goes live on 22 August, delivering a content-rich slice of the adventure ahead of Early Access in November.
