101XP Publisher Sale Highlights Narrative and Tactical Turn-Based Gems, Deals Run Until August 16
Just to be clear, I’m not making a dime by pointing out these 101XP publisher discounts. But I’m home, got some time, and while scrolling through the Valve store, I came across this sale that lets you grab a great narrative RPG for next to nothing, and maybe add a few promising upcoming titles to your wishlist if you haven’t already.
It’s the kind of game that anyone who loves reading, shaping the story, and exploring every possible outcome simply shouldn’t miss.
While the catalog spans multiple genres, turn-based and narrative RPG fans will find more than a few standout titles worth picking up. Running through August 16, the sale includes deep discounts on story-rich games and upcoming tactical releases.
The key highlight is The Life and Suffering of Sir Brante, a grim, turn-based narrative RPG where your every choice carves a path through a rigid class system defined by fate, law, and sacrifice.
Told entirely through journal-style chapters, the game explores power, religion, and rebellion in a fictional empire that mirrors the worst of history’s cruelty. With branching outcomes and irreversible consequences, it’s a brutal but rewarding experience, now 60% off ($8) on Steam.
Also featured is the upcoming Lords of Ravage, a tactical fantasy RPG expected later this year. Instead of playing the hero, you take control of one of three Dark Lords. Each faction comes with unique units and playstyles, and the gameplay blends turn-based combat, regional conquest, and decree-based strategy.
It’s shaping up to be one of the more original villain-protagonist tactics games in development, and the sale is a good excuse to wishlist it early.
Another title on the horizon, which I didn’t know anything about, is The Life and Suffering of Prince Jerian, a follow-up to Sir Brante, once again built around branching paths and weighty decisions.
Set in a divine monarchy ruled by cruel gods, the game promises moral dilemmas, dynastic struggles, and replayable narrative depth. While it’s not yet released, it’s worth tracking if you’re drawn to story-first RPGs that avoid simple good-versus-evil binaries. There’s no release date for now, the only thing to do is wishlist it.
Outside of those, For the People might appeal to fans of turn-based planning and political management. It’s a visual novel on the surface, but decisions carry mechanical consequences as you juggle citizen requests, internal power struggles, and ideological goals.
It’s not a tactics game in the traditional sense, but the turn-based structure of your actions and their long-term effects make it a strategic experience at heart, especially at 60% off.
While 101XP’s broader sale features action roguelikes and survival sims, it’s these slower-paced, choice-driven titles that stand out for TBL.
